Activision have confirmed that a new installment of the Call of Duty saga is under construction and believe that it may be ready in shop stores as early as April 2008 and at the latest of March 2009 though they have refused to put a pacific release date to it.

Activision also go onto say that the title should become available for the PC, Playstation 3, Playstation 2, Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360.

A successor to the biggest-selling game of 2007 has been confirmed for release in fiscal 2009, meaning the title could be out as early as this April.

US games publisher Activision confirmed that a new instalment in the Call of Duty franchise will be released between April 2008 and March 2009, though it refused to be more specific.

The publisher also confirmed the next game will be released on Nintendo Wii and PlayStation 2, as well Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was the biggest-selling game of 2007, achieving international success both commercially and critically.

Activision refused to comment on whether the next instalment will be a full blown sequel or a spin-off from the hugely popular franchise.

...This news just keeps getting older, eh? CoD5 was confirmed late last year, to be developed by Treyarch, and most likely a WWII game.

Call Of Duty 5 will be great. But I doubt it's to be released anytime within Q1-Q3 of this year. It'd just be way too soon.

In all honesty, I probably won't buy it. CoD4 with the new modern setting worked great. Screw cliched WWII.

I guess I'll wait for the Infinity Ward CoD6. ^^

Since it's Treyarch, disappointment will come in the shape of a rushed WWII game, better luck with CoD6.

    WWII remake....yay.
Well as long as it turns out good then I might get it. Im curious as how the motion sensing on the Wii would be like.

It's yet another take on WW2 by Treyarch, the only thing different they seem to be doing is taking on the PC platform instead of exempting it like they did with 3 (thank you for that btw)

If the motion sensing was as bad as 3 was on the Wii then I want nothing to do with it. If they can polish the textures and make the gameplay a bit smoother with it then I'd be interested, right now though it seems like given the platform coverage they wont be doing any of that.

I had a bad enough time with COD3 and Medal of Honor Heroes 2, I really hope that COD5 doesn't put the nail in the coffin for shooter ports. I do reserve myself a little bit though given that MOH Heroes 2 was a PSP title. >_

You mean ports for the Wii, right? I wouldn't speak too soon though, seeing as House of the Dead 2/3 are coming to the Wii...now if that doesn't really tickle your fancy...then I don't really know what to say Lol.
