With Apple's success in other electronic areas are they considering to storm the gaming sector? With this patent there could well be an Apple gaming console.

Apple has long been linked with a possible, and indeed probable, move into the mobile games space – and news of some new games-specific trademarks filed by the firm indicate that the company may be on the brink of announcing something.

Trademork.com reports that Apple recently filed to protect its logo and trademarks in relation to “hand-held units for playing electronic games; hand-held units for playing video games; stand alone video game machines; electronic games other than those adapted for use with television receivers only; LCD game machines; electronic educational game machines; toys, namely battery-powered computer games”.

"Apple set to kick 3rd parties, self in balls"

Macs have a bad habit of only being supported by other Macs. The only Mac hardware is made by Apple, and all of the software is made by Mac owners. Its its own bubble. And if anyone is going to somehow pull off success in the gaming market without 3rd party support, it's Nintendo!

You are so wrong... many third party companies make software & hardware that work perfectly with Macs. The days of proprietary Apple products is long gone my friend. Also, with the success of the iPhone, many developers are taking notice.

Those days are most definitely not long gone, but the Mac solitude isn't nearly as blatant as it used to be.

You know nothing at all about this theoretical console, yet you know right now that you would buy it? Wow, Steve Jobs really is a cult leader. I didn't want to believe it.

Of late, what ever Apple releases becomes a hit. They produce great products that work excellent and look sexy doing it. I think it would be a while before we saw a console from Apple, if ever. Now hand held gaming, that we will see very soon. Whether it will be played on a multi-function unit, (iPod, iPhone, etc.), or a dedicated unit remains to be seen.
