The Claim: GTA4 Multiplayer Only On XBOX360, The Truth: Multiplayer On Both Consoles

Rumours were quick to surface when XBOX boss, Don Mattrick initially announced in the Major Nelson's Podcast that GTAIV would have additional content (yeh we know that) and multiplayer available EXCLUSIVELY on the XBOX360....

...What he said sounded a lot "multiplayer mode is only in the XBOX360 version", however it seems that it was nothing more than a badly worded sentence, for Rockstar have been quick to point out, that there is no truth to these rumours and that GTA4 will be multiplayer on both consoles.

Could this have been Microsoft's tactics in trying to get people to buy the XBOX360 version over PS3? Well chances are yes it was, since Microsoft have been known to boost the fact that they have exclusive XBOX360 as the prime selling point of GTA4 on their platform... but thank god R* didn't wait more than a couple hours before setting the story straight...

    Haha, Microsoft will do anything to try and boost there sales xD

    Though it is good to hear they never left it to long before this was shot down by Rockstar.

    Wow this just looks like a desperate move by MS to gain people to buy their product. At least thats what it looks like to me.

      Well that and the Exclusive Episodic content (which they paid 50 million for)....It does smell like corporate strategy...Not desperation really, just a way to gain more sales...the 360 has more consoles out than the PS3, so it would likely sell more copies anyway...

      But meh, it would sell well on the 360 without the episodic content >_>

      I'm getting it on the PS3, since it is free to play online....Though I'll miss the Episodic content -_- We should be getting content as well (though not exclusive)...

        I was talking in terms of this. I would have thought the DLC would be enough for people to get their version.

    2 episodes are nothing to cry about. Besides, Rockstar could secretly be working on PS3 exclusive content for all we know.
