EA Games president has revealed that while Burnout still has that new car smell and the broken bones of Skate has yet to heal, there will be new titles coming in fiscal year 2009.

And Mass Effect sequel also in the mix.
Good news to any of fans of these games.

Electronic Arts' open-world racing game Burnout Paradise still has that new-car smell, and the broken bones of Skate have barely had time to knit, but the publisher is already looking ahead to the next installments in those franchises.

In a presentation to industry analysts today, EA Games president Frank Gibeau revealed that the two series would "see extension" in the publisher's fiscal year 2009, which runs from this April through March of 2009. Gibeau didn't specify whether the extensions would come in the form of proper sequels, side products (such as Burnout Legends and Burnout Dominator), or some other form.

In contrast to Burnout, Skate is a relatively new property. The series debuted last September as part of EA's attempt to break Activision's hold on the skateboarding genre with longtime champ Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.

Mass Effect 2 was kind of automatic... didn't BioWare say it would be a trilogy?

    Storm Feb 13, 08
Why yes they did. Can't wait for it. ^^

S'too bad PS3 doesn't have any exclusives that are popular enough to warrant sequels (RFOM2 excluded). We have a lot of one-off titles, and MGS4 is the last of the series, so we're out in the cold.

Haha, well with all due respect, he does bring up a good point. Still, I'm sure Folklore gained enough popularity as well as Heavenly Sword to send off for sequel ideas.

Mass Effect was ace, definitely one of the best next-gen games. Can't wait for the sequel. Lets hope Bioware fixes the framerate issues.

Totally agree there, those framerate dips were criminal! Hopefully they'll make the next revision not as clunky in regards to the menu system and easing the player into the world.

Hasn't there been like 8 burnout games in the last 6 or 7 years? It seems like they just shit them out.

If Mass Effect 2 sucks I'm burning EA down.

I want Skate pretty badly, just not badly enough to pay 60 bucks for it. Loved the demo.

I haven't looked back since. Great game, and a lot of fun. Especially like listening to peds talk about you. As you gain renown

Unless it goes the way of Tony Hawk.....Sure, first batch of games were great, and every new gen console TH game is better, but minimal gains...

If SKATE does that, well, that'll suck >_>

Mass effect shouldn't be ready this year....1 year between the original and sequel? That spells bad storyline and minimal changes to gameplay >_>

Hey no one answered my question above, is Skate good? I only played the demo and thought it was alright. I had trouble with the controls.

Shadow of Death Feb 15, 08
Only played the demo myself....I'm interested in getting it, at some point...

It is an adjustment from Tony Hawk controls, but still very nice...

I think the 360 controller is better suited for controlling the character, but that is just me....I'll get it on the PS3 though, on account of the free online (I do believe SKATE has an online component)
