Sony Computer Entertainment caught wind of recent comments made by God of War series head David Jaffe regarding Blu-ray on the PlayStation 3. Specifically, Jaffe mused that if he had his way with the PS3 design process, he would have left Blu-ray out of the machine in the early running to keep it more affordable.

According to SCE senior director of PR Dave Karakker:

"While we respect [Jaffe's] opinion, we feel strongly that the future of gaming lies in the ability to deliver more to the consumer -- more gameplay options, more lifelike graphics, more dynamic sound -- all in high definition," Sony's Dave Karakker continues. "To do that, you need a storage vehicle such as the 50 GB Blu-ray disc, because your standard 9 GB DVD simply can't handle the demands of true next-generation gaming."

I like the Blu-Ray, but I don't care what system God of War gets put on. If Jaffe doesn't like it, he can put God of War on another system.
