Oh snap!

A person in a forum caught a glimpse (And a screenshot!) of Sony's site for a few moments that it contained a confirmation of in-game messaging. It was taken down VERY quickly, but it was definitely up.

Could this be a GDC announcement?

See for yourself! Here's a cache of the page before it was edited!

See that image above? Hard to miss, isn't it. This could be found on the official PlayStation website before it was taken down. A NeoGaffer reader did, however, manage to snap it before that happened, for our speculative pleasure. It's a bit blurry, so in case you're wondering it says the following: "Talk to others during game play, say hello anytime you're online, or have a video chat with an Eye camera; USB Camera or headset."

Pulling an image off the official PlayStation website does seem a bit suspicious and this does advertise a feature that isn't currently available on the PS3. With GDC happening only next week, the timing fits (let's not forget it's a year ago when the Kotaku Home leak fiasco happened). Does this mean In-Game XMB is coming? Not necessarily, but it does bode well for in-game messaging - and let's be honest, isn't what 90% of you want In-Game XMB for anyway?

Yeah, I usually forget about my messages while I'm playing a game because I don't want to have the cause to exit just to read it. I pick up on it the next day.

Hopefully this comes into play soon.

I'd say it is sort of split between In-Game XMB for Music and Messaging....I want it for both myself...

Like I've said before, I expect In-Game XMB by or before HOME >_>

You guys do realize some games have this right. Burnout Paradise has this, its not that big of a deal really. Although it was bound to happen.

Wrong. It's a huge deal. It shouldn't be some games. It should be all games.

So its no big deal that something just about every PS3 owner has been asking for is being implemented into the system structure? Who cares that Burnout Paradise has it. What about Unreal Tournament? Call of Duty? Ghost Recon? And you still can't listen to your own music in Burnout. If it is left up to the developers, then it will get left out. It should have been built right into the system. Yea no big deal at all.

What im saying is This article isn't a big deal, i said it was bound to happen at one point, its not like were hearing this for the first time.
My other point was, while burnout has this its sorta expected more games will feature it. Hell Burnout doesn't have in game Music XMB.
Like i said in a previous occasions in game Music isn't a must for me. In game messaging was more of a high want or need to some. And we knew Sony was going to do this, it was stated a month ago.

    ***Update**
It seems this is a rumor, cause according to this, Sony took down the article that showed In game XMB and this article is labeling it in the rumor bin.

Just because one site is labeling it as a rumor doesn't mean it is. Even a Google cache shows the advertisement. Sony wouldn't put something up only to take it down again shortly thereafter and claim it's just a rumor. If you had read the article you linked to, you would see that Sony hasn't made a comment one way or the other. The fact that it was on the site to begin with is enough to say that it's going to happen and they slipped up in letting people know too early and they're just trying to cover their footsteps. I wouldn't be surprised if they were trying to keep it a secret until GDC.
