Sony confirms PSP phone?

Not long after Sony published a patent for what could easily be a PSP Phone, Sony Magazine hinted that "A new PSP-STYLE PHONE is apparently in development. There are even suggestion that it could be in the shops as early as February".

Take it how you want, but it sounds to me like Sony accidentally confirmed the inevitable.

It's time to bring the PSP phone rumor in the public again. This time some Sony Magazine reader noticed something interesting. The magazine says "A new PSP-STYLE PHONE is apparently in development. There are even suggestion that it could be in the shops as early as February." Sounds pretty interesting but it's actually nothing new. We have heard this kind of rumors before and even Jim Ryan from Sony Computer sated that PSP phone is "definitely plausible"

Anyways, I was digging our archive and found other rumor that also claims that Sony Ericsson will announce gaming phone in February. Well, it's already 15th of February. Let's see what happens!

    Ah..damn it! Why did they have to come out with the slim and THEN come out with the phone? I would have wated to buy one if they had announced it sooner. But im not going to buy it now.

    Yeah, I figured Sony would do something like this with the PSP eventually, considering it already has networking capabilities.

    Doesn't it already have skype? Doesn't that mean it works like a phone?

      You can use Skype only when you are in a WiFi hotspot. Not too handy for most people. You can't find WiFi hotspots everywhere, you know.

    I know the design is old. This news article isn't about the concept design, it's about Sony confirming it.
