As we approach the apparent release date of mid-late April for this anticipated game, Mario Kart Wii, Nintendo can't help but tease us with screenshots, details, and now the box art. So we now know what it looks like, now the next question that comes to mind is: What's it going to cost us? With the Wii-Wheel it's bound to be more than the average $50, but perhaps buying it packaged with the game will be cheaper.

Anyways, can't have a Mario game without the mascot to show off in the cover now can we? Mario and his brother Luigi turn the box 'colorful' as they fashion the new Wii-Mote accessory.

If the official Mario Kart Wii box art tells us anything, it's that we won't be waltzing out of the local game store with a standard-issue game case tucked neatly into our back pocket. No, we'll be lugging around an actual box -- and for what? The Wii Wheel. We can't imagine Nintendo's gonna charge extra for this 2-cent hunk of plastic, but it's the inconvenience that irks us: another box to break down, another prop cluttering the coffee table. What say we round these wheels up and send 'em on a one-way rocket to the sun!

It looks OK. Great for promoting the Wii-ness of it, but it'd be cooler if it actually looked like it was the game's cover, not just the steering wheel with a free game (Kind of like Link's Crossbow Training to the Wii Zapper).

Sucks, to be honest. The game should have been the highlight of the boxart, not advertising the Wii Wheel.

We aren't buying the game to oogle the box art, we're buying it to play our asses off and to get a break from Brawl.

What kind of a name is 'Mario Kart Wii'? Sony didn't call Killzone 2 'Killzone PS3' or MGS4 'Metal Gear Solid PS3'. Microsoft didn't call Fable 2 'Fable Xbox 360' or Forza 2 'Forza Xbox 360'...

What's up with that? Just sounds gimmicky and, well, crap.

What else were they meant to name it? Mario Kart is a series that tends to crop up on all of their consoles so it makes the whole process easier when they add the console name after it as well.

Adding a "2" to a name takes just as much work as adding "Wii" to the end of it.

I would rather it be called Mario Kart Wii, than MArio Kart 8

      Your point fails.

My point was an opinion with my reasoning. To each his own, 'nnkklo'. We all have our own idea about what a crap name sounds like clearly.

I agree Josh i just don't like the whole repetition... I mean the box says Wii on it as standard why repeat it, but alas Nintendo isn't reknowned for originality anymore, innovation yes but i guess its too hard to think of a name...

Why would they have to think of a name? It's a game centered around Mario character and kart racing. Naturally they're going to give it the same name that every other Mario Kart game has.

As for being called "Mario Kart Wii". Well what's the problem there? Mario Kart 64 had "64" tacked on the end (as did many N64 games), so why is it suddenly a problem if the console's name is in the title? Honestly, who cares?

Mario Kart isn't an ongoing plot; it's an ongoing series. It would be too confusing to have all the numbers in there.

Mario Party had numbers, but they had multiple games per system, and it sucks more than Mario Kart.

Yeah, we don't need a Mario Party Kart...

A box is a box, needs nothing flashy.

And Mario Kart has usually had the system name after it. The only one I know of that doesn't is Double Dash.

I didn't hear any complaints to games like 'Mario 64.' I suppose they attach the console to the name to better differ them, and how significant they are to that particular console. Mario 64 is only for the Nintendo 64, cartridge format, can't be played on the other Nintendo systems (although now there's the VC). And I assume that the Wii will be no different.

It's just Nintendo's style. Anyways, I like the box art, very 'Wii-like' as someone mentioned.

I would rather look at box-art that represents the game, rather than the Wii-Wheel. But *meh* It's only box-art. As long as the game is good, I'm happy with it.

When is Nintendo going to come out with an original title for the Wii?

I'd prefer the actual game's box art over the Wii-Wheel's. It's a clean box none the less ^_____^
