Lost Planet 5GB Installation.... Well Worth It

Krunal | February 18, 2008 | News | Playstation 3
It was reported earlier that Capcom's upcoming port Lost Planet will require a 5GB installation, much like DMC4... however what they didn't mention is the fact the load times on the game are lightning fast thanks to the installation in comparison to the XBOX360 version.
Once you complete the install, which took us around fifteen-minutes, the load times were pretty much non-existent throughout the majority of the game that we have played. It was a bit tedious to wait at the start, but once that installation was done, the load times were lightning fast.

I would rather wait a couple of seconds and only have to install 1-2GB then 5GB and have to only wait a second.

Considering the game is poor at best, I'd say it's not worth it.

Unless you like shit games of course.

So why are they doing this again? I mean is this standard for PS3 games from Capcom. I mean they make the PS3 version is better to 360 but i thought they were both going to be the same, why make one game load-times non-existent while the 360 noticeable. It seems to me one they are hypocrites when say the same game, and two making out the PS3 version superior.

I don't get it. Krunal whats your take on this?

Did you even read through that before posting? It's completely nonsensical.

I know why lost planet has the installation before playing, since i also made the article first about it. My point was Why is Capcom doing this, and will it be standard for all of their games? And the rest of my comment is pretty straight forward. So yes i did know before hand.

Firstly, they can't do the same on the XBOX360, hence they don't. As for loading times, that does not dictate the game, that dictates the machine. If the game can be loaded faster this way, they have no reason to not add this feature, just because the XBOX360 doesn't support this feature. That's the stupidest comments I've honestly heard.

And my take on this is that all the downloads are good, because it speeds things up. I've always hated load times, and with them being non-existent here, I'm happy for more games to have them.

Exactly. I personally really like the idea of "installing" games, but it should be optional!

I won't be picking up this game, and it looks like I may need to get a bigger HD in my damn PS3 if companies start swinging this way.
