PSN to SEN: Time to rage quit? - DarkFeed

That's right after many years and numerous rumours THQ have finally announced the third title in the popular series titled Red Faction: Guerilla. The game has definitely been reworked for its next generation debut, not only does the game take place 50 years after the events of the first game but has also made the switch from 1st to 3rd person, even featuring a cover system. The only bad bit of news is we won't see it until 2009
The third game in the series will be a third-person open-world one, a departure from the first person perspective used in the first two games. Set fifty years after the events of the first Red Faction, Guerilla has you playing as an insurgent fighting against the oppressive Earth Defense Force, destroying everything in your path as you make your way across Mars.
"Red Faction: Guerrilla expands the signature destruction elements of the series and pushes the boundaries of next-gen gaming on a massive, terra-formed Mars where gamers can literally tear down the enemy EDF presence brick by brick," said Mike Kulas, president of Volition, Inc. "With a new 3rd person perspective, a full cover system that allows for guerrilla style tactics and a diverse planet to explore we're excited to revitalize the gripping world of Red Faction for high-definition platforms."

What's the point of having a cover system in a game that prides itself on being able to blow anything up ? That's like adding a speed limit to a racing game.
Free rome?
Given the horrible rehash that was SOF3 by Activision, one can only hope that THQ was taking notes on what not to do with new releases. Here's to hoping for next-gen massive destruction of the world.
