Neuro-headset allows hands-free gaming

Dislike a controller? Can't get to grips with a keyboard?
Well maybe you will never have to use them again with this headset that detects emotions from the player! The product from Emotiv Systems(Get it?) Will retail for $299 later this year. What games could be spawned with such technology? We will have to wait and find out... But one things for sure, is that this is definitely a step in the right direction for the future of games and technology as a whole.
A gaming headset that can read the interaction of neurons in the brain will go on sale later this year priced at $299.

The Emotiv Development Kit from Emotiv Systems allows developers to create games that respond to a player's emotions.

Gamers then control characters' expressions and manipulate objects using only the power of their brain, according to the company.
The wireless headset uses a gyroscope to detect movement and communicates with a USB dongle when plugged into a computer.

"Brain-computer interfaces dramatically change the way players interact with a game and have a profound effect on the gaming experience," said Nam Do, chief executive and co-founder at Emotiv Systems.

"Developers are looking to this technology to take their games to another level, to differentiate their products and to retain their fans.

Hola shazbot, it's being sold now? Awesome! I can't wait to hear what gamers have to say about how well it works. If it turns out to work pretty well, then I am so getting one of those things.

I prefer using my hands, TBH. I also don't like the idea of being neurologically linked with something artificial. But that's probably just me.

Yes, this won't help people who say video games decrease the amount of exercise kids get at all.

At least with normal controllers you burn some calories with your thumbs...

Yeah, I heard about this, I can see it being implemented on a future console, once they work out the kinks, and make it a practical way of doing stuff (as speedy, or speedier than using hands)....

    PS4 or PS5 maybe >_>

I don't think ANYONE wants to know my emotions when I play some of these games.....LMAO What happens when you get so ticked you wanna chuck the controller? Does your character just go ape shit in the game popping off rounds in the air? Or does he do like my 1 year old daughter and roll around on the floor and cry when she doesn't get her way? LMAO

      LOL ;;

Actually, if it can translate that anger, a well designed game might improve your characters strength and such, but there is likely a trade-off, like tunnel vision, and lowered defense or something....

Also, games/systems that use these things will likely require some calibration, they expose you to certain images (based on your age and such), and determine how you react to certain situations...

Perhaps a 'training mode' on the system/game that learns your mannerisms >_>

..I would still prefer a controller. Anything else I could just go out and experience for myself. Depends on how you're linked up to it.
