Reggie to 1UP: Europe Has to Wait for Brawl

Avalith | February 25, 2008 | News | Wii
Nintendo keeps running into problem after problem after problem after problem after... Well, you get the idea. They just keep having "problems" with getting Brawl out on time. First they delay it, then they don't have enough copies available to fulfill preorders, and now this. And those are just problems that they've told us; who knows what else may have gone wrong.

Well, we've got another delay. This time, Europe has to wait even longer for Brawl. Why? "Production problems," according to Reggie.

Quote from alternate source; primary source is an mp3 file.
Speaking to 1UP, Reggie answered a question regarding why Wii Fit and Mario Kart was coming to Europe first by saying, "Yeah, but they don't get Smash Brothers until fall."

Reggie cited the reason as a production problem, claiming that Nintendo would have to open and convert new factories in order to step up disc duplication, which would no doubt prove costly and wasteful in the long run.

Oh don't worry, Europe and co. are rather used to being screwed around as per freakin usual. I mean, it's not like it happens to us often or anything /sarcasm.

Its going to be funny when Brawl's a disappointment (Which people have no way to judge its greatness before its release, anyway). Europe will be laughing while America cries and the Europeans don't waste their money.

The game has been released in Japan if you haven't notice and we have gotten the reviews from them and they like the game.

Still it sucks that Europe has to wait so long. Soon Europeans are just going to get mad about the delays of Brawl.

If you're talking about reviews by a company or magazine, they should be seldom trusted. Their opinion may be biased. The real opinions you should base the quality of the game is the reviews from the players. Gameplay videos aren't going to tell much either, as the gameplay may look good, but may play horribly. As for me, I talked with a person who did play the game, and he was majorly dissapointed.

youre saying that the people who review these game professionally dont play videogames?

the insanely large hoard of people who love the game, and post up 326734698547 videos of youtube on it seem to look like they're enjoying it pretty damn much.

          quit hatin, people.

At least we get Wii Fit and Mario Kart before the US as compensation. Still would rather get Brawl though.

I'm disgusted by this. Region-locking and obvious release date gaps (neither of which the PS3 has) are a combination which will inevitably annoy. Waiting four months for the UK-developed BWii was bad enough, but up to nine months for the console's flagship multiplayer title? I've been a Nintendo fan for years, but this is making me consider switching to Sony.
