Other than getting their Nintendo Wii chipped and invalidating the warranty, Nintendo Wii owners have, so far, had no chance of playing region-locked titles for the system. However, today the prayers of many wannabe importers have been answered with the sighting of a FreeLoader disc for the Nintendo Wii, allowing games from any region to be played on the machine with ease.

For GameCube owners and keen videogame importers, Datel’s FreeLoader was a lifesaver. The disc disabled the console’s region lockout, allowing games released anywhere in the world to be played on the last-generation without a hitch. A sneaky Wii update halted the Freeloader working on Nintendo’s latest console, but it now appears that a Wii-specific version of the software has finally become available. Smash Bros. Brawl fans in Europe not keen on waiting months until after the beat-em-up’s North American release (or any other title for that matter) - rejoice!

Does anybody know if it will be released in Australia and estimate the cost?

As I know nothing about this sort of thing, so does this mean that I can import any Japanese/European Wii title and it will work just fine, assuming I get one of these?

    Same for the Gamecube one?

      I'm pretty sure yes.
I feel better for the people in Europe that have to wait to get Brawl.

Today keeps getting better and better, but Nintendo won't attack my Wii if I use that will they?

Nope, it just voids the Warranty. And I needed my Warranty when my Wii broke.

It says it doesn't though. Are you sure?

I'm pretty sure that if you chip your Wii or anything like that, then they won't give you a new one or fix your old one if yours breaks.

I thought it said this was an alternative to getting that sort of thing done?

Sweet! It would be worth getting in Australia for Brawl because they haven't even given us a release date yet.

Getting the game before they announce when you can get the game would own.
