Following the success of the Resident Evil redesign that is Resident Evil 4, Capcom seems quick to cash in once again with Resident Evil 5. It looks as though they are aiming for a pre-holiday release, as soon as October.
Now I am a diehard RE fan and I can't say I'm too fond of RE4 as far as RE games go. RE4 is a great game on it's own if I tell myself it's not apart of my beloved series. But like I said, as RE games go, it's too different for my liking. Why they couldn't have just started a new franchise, or even if it absolutely had to involve Leon, at least call it something else besides "Resident Evil" and I would have been fine.
I'm sure Resident Evil 5 is going to be just as much fun as RE4 was, but there's just one thing I ask of Capcom, please please incorporate the Umbrella Corporation somehow. It's just not Resident Evil without them.
According to rumors in the latest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly, Capcom plans to release Resident Evil 5 before/during the holiday season of this year.
Now we would just say that this could be an April Fools Joke to get fans riled up; however, PSU has heard from our own sources that this is true. We were told that not only will Resident Evil 5 be in stores by the holidays, but could be on shelves as soon as October.
Due out on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Resident Evil 5 is set ten years after the events of the original game, with players assuming control of former S.T.A.R.S Marksman, Chris Redfield.
Now working for an organisation known as ‘BSAA’, Redfield is dispatched to investigate an isolated village in the African desert, where he soon discovers that the locals have become infected by an unknown plague or virus, turning them into relentless, malevolent killers.
As with its predecessor, Resident Evil 5 uses an over-the-shoulder perspective to allow for precision aiming, and also incorporates the use of melee attacks, such as the ability to punch your opponent, knocking them to the ground. Various weapons such as the handgun, Shotgun, Assault Rifle have also been confirmed, though much of the game’s plot and gameplay remains unknown.
Expect more details on Resident Evil 5 to crop up over the next few months.

Were you guys simply disappointed just because you didn't get to play as Dante for the most part? Who cares! It's about the fun of the gameplay and DMC4 delivers, no doubt.
If anything, I bet you end up being super disappointed with Haze. I don't want it to be average, but that's certainly how it's looking. Take a really cool scenario and poorly execute it looks like it's going to be the recipe for Haze unfortunately.
Resident Evil 4 Metacritic: 96
User Average: 9.5
Gears of War Metacritic: 94
User Average: 8.4
And if RE4's any indication, RE5's probably gonna be another hands-down success.
But I think this one will be as successful as the 4th. At least I hope so.
RE4 was a runaway success but I can't even LOOK at the game, let alone play it again...though I don't have a problem playing the classic RE's.
Cut the theatrics.
News flash, the World does not revolve around you, and you may not be able to come to terms with that but I don't care...you seem to have a hard time accepting other people's opinions and throwing a tantrum because you disagree, I'd try to fix that if I was you.
Also, of course I can't alter your opinion (that also means to change it, so try not to be so redundant) as for the fact that I can't "touch it." Well that's an entirely other story. I can comment on your opinion all I want, and I invoke my ability to do so.
Since we're on the topic of opinions, I'm sorry to say that whatever "facts" you wanna bring here is really not gonna work, so you can step down from whatever ego trip you're going through. I want to say that I (as in, not you or anybody else in case you didn't get the message) think RE4 is shit by now. And the reason I'm against RE4 is because there has been evidence that you can evolve your series without having to change the gameplay, and Silent Hill is a living testimony of that.
(Also I prefered Cold Fear (which kinda has RE4's gameplay) over RE4...mostly because it actually sticks more to horror than RE4 ever will, ironic because that was Ubisoft's first try at horror.)
You figured that out by yourself, huh?
I feel that RE5 will be a bit rushed if they plan for it to be out in October. With the anticipation that will be following this game (because I know there will be), October seems too early.
Gears of War, whether you like it or not, does what it does well. That's all it takes. Look at gamings history, it doesn't take a super complex game to be fun, but if it does one little thing well, it can be a blast. Just look at Mario, all he does when you get right down to it is jump, that's it! Just jump. But it's classic fun. Mario is a simple avoidance game. Resident Evil 4 doesn't do a lot of different things either, but it does one thing exceptionally well. Gears of War doesn't change a lot from the likes of Resident Evil, but the mechanics of the weapons and environment make it fun.
You have to learn to not succumb to the hype and let it affect you. Keep a level head. You also have to be able to see things from both sides of the fence.
GTA does what it does well, but I've never bought a GTA in my life. Doesn't mean it's a bad game. I need more that just simple-minded shooting, and even if Gears is more than that, the game still boils down to just shooting everything. Which is why I enjoy Oblivion so much.
Of course, those in the minority will have to be ignored. Sadly that's just the way it is...unless you have developers like Team Silent that don't really milk their series for cash like whores...
Sure it didn't feel like RE and it wasn't scary in the slightest but imo the gameplay was superb.
Give me classic RE1 or RE2 anyday.
I believe the only way to have a truly scary game is to use the story to build an ominous sense of fear, which can be done regardless of gameplay style.
As far as Survival Horror goes I've always thought Silent Hill was better. The classic RE's were great, but they haven't aged well. Silent Hill isn't bad though, even the early ones.
That all being said, I still love to break out my gamecube and play my favorite Resident Evil of all time, REmake. God that game is good.
I like RE games, but when it comes to flaws, the earlier RE games have more than RE4.
In the earlier games, the controls were pretty rough and the camera angles sucked half the time. The item-carrying and level-backtracking nature of the games was also very inconvenient.
Now, all that didn't stop the earlier RE's from being great freakin' games. HOWEVER, RE4 introduced a lot of improvements, including better shooting and moving controls and less backtracking (although they went overboard and made it a tad too linear, but it's the lesser of two evils). Sure, RE4 had flaws too, but it improved in many aspects. and now, not enough RE fans appreciate it enough for it. What a shame.
Haze is made by the same people who made Timesplitters and Goldeneye. I have read a lot about the mechanics of the game and I would be surprised if it was a disappointment, especially with 4 player co-op.
iLL, don't take offense to this, it's understandable why you might overlook it but you really need to reevaluate how you're playing the game. I uesd to be just a casual player of DMC and then when I went up to the higher difficulties like Hard and DMD I realized I needed a different approach. From that point forward I've never played a DMC game the same.
And please try to tell me how it doesn't have exceptional combat. It's got better combat than the previous 3 games and those also had great combat.
You can't sit there and tell me you can breeze through the tougher difficulties in Devil May Cry 4, so don't bitch about a lack of challenge when there is plenty of difficulty to be had. It's as simple as that.
The fact that you don't strive to attain SSS combos is simply a clear indication that you're not getting all there is to get out of the combat. SSS combos are the whole point of the combat. Devil May Cry is all about style, the developers clearly wanted you to be stylish when you played and they reward you for being stylish.
However to be stylish you have to be skilled. The only way to raise the style combo up to SSS is to continue to do different combos rather than the same ones over and over again.
iLL, it's as plain as day, you aren't playing the game correctly. I never said you can't dislike this game, or even be bored with it. I'm simply addressing the fact that you don't know how to really get all the enjoyment and pride out of this game and hence YOU SHOULD SEEK OUT AND TRY TO PLAY THE GAME THE WAY IT WAS MEANT TO BE PLAYED. You just might surprise yourself. I'll say it again. I must have beaten DMC1 about 3 times before I really realized I wasn't playing the game right, it's easy to do.
i already have tons of hot games to buy in 2008 im gonna be so broke.
