Apparently Microsoft will be using 60GB hard drives from now on. It's possible this has been influenced in some way by HD DVD going under, as now the 360 has more or less lost that part of its package, they are possibly looking to add something in another area to make up for it, and more hard drive space wouldn't be a bad thing.

I have once again have attained from a rock solid source that Microsoft WILL be replacing the 20GB hard drive on the standard Xbox 360 with a larger 60GB version. Dates are not nailed down, but my source says Microsoft wants it done and dusted before the end of its financial year which translates as our Q2.

This cracks me up. Especially after so many people were ripping apart the PS3 for having so many SKUs.

Seriously though, it's getting out of hand on both parties parts. I have a feeling once the Dual Shock 3 bundles get out there Sony will be done. Not sure about Microsoft thought.

No they were ripping on sony for having so many skus. BUt only selling some of them in perate continenets and making the componenets different.

Both Sony and Microsoft are confusing their customer's with excessive SKUs, so maybe it's just something that's going to happen more this generation than previous console generations.

I'd rather have a price drop since I plan on getting the 120 GB Elite anyway. =\

A price drop is always nice, but the prices are falling little by little in some parts of the world, maybe others will follow.

It's probably just a sign of the times, with so many variable hard drive sizes, backwards compatability issues and whatnot, many variations of the same console was probably an inevitability.

    Same, Subtle.

I got the Elite, so what does it matter to these Elite players that you are upgrading another version that doesn't matter.

They're addressing people who haven't bought an XBOX yet, and I doubt they'll want one more if it has a bigger HD.

It matters to people who want to pay less also didn't Microsoft say they didn't care about losing HDDVD?

They have to save face, i mean everyone has been there they have backed something to the point of arguing over it, this could be something as pointless as a toy. Anyway Microsoft backed HD-DVD and wanted it to succeed, now it has failed they are playing the "I don't care" card, ever had an argument and the opposing party has no argument left and just turns around and say "Yeah... Well i don't care!" that's what Microsoft are doing now, deep down they are slightly shaken but its not critical to their business plan.

Nice. You can't go wrong with a bigger hard drive. I hope to find out soon on when exactly they will do this.
