In this edition of the Wii Virtual Console Wrapup, we'll review the two weeks that have gone by, and the new games that have been added to the three Virtual Consoles. For those who have been paying attention, the regular on-the-correct-day-non-late-and-actually-on-time articles will resume next week.

First of all, let's recap the last week of February, 02/25/08 - 03/02/08:
On Monday the 25th, the North American Virtual Console was updated with two new games, already previewed on GameGrep.

Friendly recap:

  • N64: Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, 1-4 Players, 1000 Points
  • TG16: Psychosis, 1 Player, 600 Points

Japan, the day after, on February 26th saw the debut of the Sega Master System on its Virtual Console, and a whopping four games were added.

That said, the two highlights of the bunch came from Sega consoles: Hokuto no Ken for the Sega Master System (Black Belt in the US, sans license) and Gley Lancer for the Sega Mega Drive, which hadn't seen a release outside Japan. Hokuto no Ken is a side-scrolling beat-em-up, whereas Gley Lancer is a side-scrolling shoot-em-up.

    Japan 02/26/08 Recap:
  • SMS: Hokuto no Ken (Fist of the North Star), 1-2 Players, 600 Points
  • SMD: Gley Lancer, 1-2 Players, 600 Points
  • PCE: Neo Nectaris, 1 Player, 800 Points - CD Game
  • PCE: Power Eleven, 1-2 Players, 600 Points

On the Friday of that week, the extra day in the leap year, Europe went back to its old ways and only got a single game: Super Turrican for the SNES. According to VC Reviews, it plays like a bastardization of Contra and Metroid.

    Single game recap:
  • SNES: Super Turrican, 1 Player, 800 Points

Going into the second week, Nintendo of America followed suit with giving the NA Virtual Console the same update as Europe the previous week, giving just Super Turrican on March 3rd.

    Single game recap part deux:
  • SNES: Super Turrican, 1 Player, 800 Points

Japan on March 4th saw its updates go back down to earth with a whopping two games, although one of those games is the fan-favorite, Metroid.

    Recap:
  • FAM: Metroid, 1 Player, 500 Points - Disk System
  • FAM: Star Luster, 1-2 Players, 500 Points

As for Europe, today they get Kirby's sole 3D adventure, Kirby 64.

Single game recap Euro part deux:
  • N64: Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, 1-4 Players, 1000 Points

As always, keep track of the latest VC releases with What's New on VC? in the Wii Virtual Console forum.
