Konami is currently holding a tournament for Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 with a top prize of £50'000. Apparently the player used screens from a previous unofficial map to convince the admins that he had won a real match in the tournament, a match that never actually happened.

"Konami Digital Entertainment and Play.com will not tolerate cheating of any kind and reiterates its commitment that only the best players will be eligible to win the competition," the company said in a statement.

A number of High Profile multiplayer games get this sort of treatment....Like there are Starcraft Tournaments, Halo ones, etc....

Some people can make a living as a professional gamers....It isn't for the 'run of the mill L33T' though >_> You have to be VERY good >_> Even then, there is likely someone a fair bit better somewhere >_>

Of course they're going to "fall for it" because he had screenshots proving that he won the game, only it wasn't the right game but how are the admins supposed to know that? And it wasn't "worth the shot" because obviously the other player was going to report it when he (or she) realised that they had been cheated out of a match. Maybe think your comments through a bit better in future.

I'm glad he was banned, that would have been disgraceful, really.
