I can't believe it has been nine years since Everquest was released. I still remember watching my buddy play it during its second week in release, just awe-struck. Anyhow, they are kicking off a year of special events in celebration of the anniversary starting with a scavenger hunt on March 16th.

In honor of the ninth anniversary, EverQuest is hosting a variety of in game and fabled events throughout the year, the first of which are connected to the Planes of Power. On March 16th, a scavenger hunt will start with the NPC Garin Tvalish in Plane of Tranquility in which Garin will give players a clue book and a bag. Players will then get to figure out which items from the Planes of Power...

    I know, and not only that but they are still producing expansions for it. I have to hand it to them with their handling of EQ. Unlike EQII, Vanguard, SWG, they did right by the EQ community.

    Who in hell celebrates a 9th Anniversary(concerning games).. a 10th and 20th is alright but 9th cmon.. these people just need a reason to get people to join.

      In MMO terms every year is special since the number of failed MMO's far outweighs the number of successes, EQ may never make it to the big 10, just like many that never make it to the big 5, every MMO has rather large celebrations on their day of release, since there may never be another one. The public are fickle one day their favorite game is their most hated game, and MMOs that suffer that fate on a grand scale have to finish.

    I've heard only good things about Everquest, but I'ma Guild Wars man myself. Guild Wars, FTW!!
