GTA IV - 15 multiplayer modes with support for 16 players!

It has long been known that GTA4 will have online multiplayer, but until now, the extent of it has remained unknown. PSM had a chance to play 7 of the modes. They range from races, to cops and robbers, and even a bomb the base mode!

Sounds like it's gonna be a hell of a game!

  • There are 15 multiplayer game modes in GTA IV. PSM had an opportunity to play 7 of them. The rules of each game are determined by the host.
  • Multiplayer supports upto 16 players.
  • Your online character is fully customizable. You can alter his race, sex, hair, clothing etc.
  • The game modes featured are as follows:

1. Hangman's NOOSE
2. Car Jack City
3. Bomb da Base
4. Bomb da Base II
5. Mafia Work
6. Team Mafia Work
7. Deathmatch
8. Team Deathmatch
9. Turf War
10. Cops N Crooks
11. Race
12. GTA Race
13. Deal Breaker
14. Free Mode
15. ????

      Oh definitely! And thankfully there's a free mode too, one that seems as though it could actually cover the entire city. Awesome.

    I wonder how in game communication will be dealt with, seeing as there'll be so many players over such a large area. Hopefully the PlayStation 3 release will support voice too.

      It'd be cool if you could just chat with people near you and then you had to give people a ring with a mobile phone if they're far away.

    Oh I do hope some of the missions are co-op able. I'd love to roll around with my boys.

    Wow, brilliant! Deathmatches will be so fun!
    It would be cool to explore the city as a team, too. =)

    I'll be doing the Cops VS Robbers type one >_>

    Yeah, nobody seems to know what the 15th unrevealed mode is >_>

    I'd like to get a team together, and have us massacre a huge number of citizens/cops...Just take over say....That "Happiness Island" (where the Statue of Happiness is)...We demand independence from the USA!

    These sound really great. I just hope they have pulled them off well but it at least gives me one more reason to get this.

    Cant wait for this game, It might even be my favourite online game.
