The Great Final Fantasy Easter egg hunt

chautemoc | March 16, 2008 | News | PC Playstation 2
WoW's Noblegarden Easter celebration, LotRO's Spring Festival, it's all happening, people. But for some, the most cherished Jesusy celebration of all is FFXI's Easter egg hunt. It started a few days ago, but worry not, there are still plenty of rewards to claim. Hack and slash for Jesus!
The official FFXI site has up notes on the rewards you can garner for participating in the event this year - the very beautiful eggs pictured above with a very sleepy Moogle. How to actually participate in the Eggstravaganza event isn't on the site, but the event hasn't changed overmuch in the many years it's been running. For hints, Allakhazam has guides for the 2005 egg hunt and the 2007 egg hunt.

What a way to promote Christianity. Killing other players' characters to find the most eggs.

    Hallelujah!

I remember getting GTA3 for Christmas one year and playing that all day. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Jesus for dying, thereby allowing me to engage guilt-free in such wondrous sinful opportunities. <3

OK.....where in the hell did you get hack and slash for Jesus from? The easter egg hunt in FFXI has always been just that.....an easter egg hunt. Players get eggs with letters on them and try to find and trade with other players to create words from the game such as "MOOGLE".

There is absolutely NO religious reference in the game....so why the hell it's brought up here is beyond me.

If it weren't for the religious tradition of Easter, there would be no Easter egg hunt, so technically calling it an "Easter" egg hunt is a religious reference.

      Nice try.

Since the word Easter is not even used for the event, I fail to see how you can argue that it is a religious reference.

        Nice try.

How many other holidays have egg hunts though, hmmmm?

Seems like an amusing event, but I don't have FFXI, so nothing for me I guess >_>

most events in FFXI are boring and ignored by most players. You're not missing much.
