Video games more effective than medications

chautemoc | March 17, 2008 | News | Misc
Music has made a lot of headway in recent years in the field of therapy, proving highly effective for patients. Awesomely enough, the same can be said for video games, which more and more are displaying more positive effects than drugs for patients suffering from physical pain. Maybe soon we'll see doctors prescribing Harvest Moon to those with anxiety. Seriously!
Controlled experiments consistently show subjects who are distracted in a fully-immersive virtual reality world, such as a three-dimensional skiing adventure computer game, report less pain than their counterparts using drug-based pain therapy.

Well, that proofs it that Videogames are more then just a Entertainment pass time.
It's now a good recommendation for Medical Stuff as well.
    LOL! Awesome.

Well, this sort of stuff isn't that new. We occasionally hear about the positive benefits of gaming, for those suffering various illnesses/disabilities (physical or learning).

Of course theres more to gaming than just playing, you can move around (at least with the Wii or if you have a wireless controller)

    Old news is old though.

I've seen many stories with things to do with this, but yeah the Wii can be beneficial for health, but going for a walk or something is just as good.

Perhaps, but the Wii offers greater entertainment as a reward, thus helping people break the pain barrier. Besides boxing is more like a run.

I laughed so hard at the picture. They look like they're really into it.
