Oh well, that means more people will HAVE to buy vista sooner or later.

Not if you have a copy of XP laying around. They're just not going to be making any more XP CDs. Those distributers didn't even pack the CD in a lot of the time anyways, so it's not like it matters. I'll be keeping my XP CD closeby, personally.

I guess it's only natural that Microsoft will take XP off of the market in about 10 months. Is Vista really that much better than XP though?

I personally don't like Vista much, but a lot off it is compability issues which will hopefully be sorted soon enough. It was the same when XP came out.

I've had vista ultimate since January and I haven't had any compatibility issues yet.

My optical mouse, wireless internet box and printer all didn't work aswell as other pieces of software that behaved oddly, it also claimed I wasn't an admin when using an administrative account, maybe I just got unlucky but it was enough to really put me off Vista.

I'm not very happy with this, but as long as they fix a few of the bugs and issues with the Windows Vista I can live with it. I was hoping to pick up a new computer this year, and the vista just doesn't look very appealing to me when it comes down to it versus the XP.

I guess I'm just nostalgic though.

Gaming on Vista leaves something to be desired at the moment too. XP is still the performance king, whether for gaming or for regular desktop use. This is especially bad for laptops, where every ounce of performance is so important.

Yeah definitely agree on the gaming front, the problem is a lot of new laptops and pcs are now coming pre bundled with Vista, I'm trying to pick up a laptop for both university work and some game playing but they all seem to have Vista.

I would say that it's about time, but the fact that Windows Vista sucks, I'm going to say bad move.

Never tried my hands on Vista yet, but the visuals are excellent, from what I've seen.

One of the computers in my house (we have six) has Vista on it, but the rest have XP. I like XP quite a bit, but I guess I could get used to Vista eventually. >.

Linux! Linux! Really, I don't think I want to upgrade to Vita.

Hopefully they will fix [most] of the bugs on Vista by the time XP retires. Otherwise, loads of people will be in serious trouble, seeing as how Vista has had several problems already.

On reflection it won't be be so bad by next year. Drivers will have settled a bit and performance should be up. DX10 will make Vista a gamer's must have anyway.
