After leaked video and screenshots from SEGA's FTP site, the firm has spoken out to confirm the existence of Sonic Unleashed. Presumed a multi-format release, rumour so far points that it is planned for the Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii. A PS3 build is yet to be mentioned.

Rumours about a brand new title from SEGA entitled Sonic Unleashed have been zipping across the Internet all weekend, but we’ve held off posting until now due to a lack of confirmation that it was ever destined for a Nintendo platform (or, indeed, whether the game was real at all). After the explosion of hear’say this weekend, SEGA of Europe has spoken out to officially confirm the title.

I saw the video on gonintendo yesterday and I'm really excited to see this! Hopefully it doesn't follow the trends of recent Sonic games.

Yay another mediocre action platformer starring Sonic! Just what I've been waiting for.

If it is anything like the previous, I can't wait for those long loading screens, shit game play and awful graphics.

It should be better then the last ones right? I guess I'll wait for a preview.

Yay! I really can't wait at all. I really liked the last Sonic The Hedgehog (ok I admit the loading screens got old though).

This would be good for the DS. Why dont they just make a Sonic Adventure 3???

You mean Sonic Heroes? That game wasn't all that.

Anyway, from the video, it looks like Sonic Rush with lusher graphics. And since Yuji Naka is NOT around to ruin this one like he did Heroes, Shadow, and Sonic 06, I have hope.

Agree with bk man, toss out all the other crap spin offs and just give us Sonic Adventure 3. The games in between have been utter... crap.

Though, I doubt they would make a SA:3 for more than 1 console...

Heroes counts as "SA3" since it's a direct sequel or SA2. The proof can be shown in Shadow's story.

No Chao? No sequel! Sorry MusiKon...

It's canonical to Sonic Adventure 2, hence it's an actual sequel. Just because it doesn't have the label "Adventure" on the box doesn't mean it isn't. If Chao is what you want, go pick up Nights on the Wii for the similar A-Life.

Allow me to clarify, SEGA know Chao are popular, they have said they are exclusive to the Adventure games though, the fact it doesn't have Chao indicates to me that it is not, in SEGA's view (and therefore the most important one), part of the Adventure Sub-series. I will admit that though in the grand scheme of the series it could be viewed as a sequel it is by no means the only game that can be viewed as the sequel as an 'Adventure 3' would be a sequel in the Sub-series. It all depends on the way you look at it I guess.

So in a nutshell, you just want them to add the Chao back to the series. Is that what you mean?

Not quite, what I mean is that for some reason SEGA don't view any of the more recent ones as part of the Adventure subseries. The lack Chao and the word Adventure are the indicators but I figure you would be tried of arguing over the name. Maybe you think those are irrelevant even though they make it so clear to me, I am willing to agree to disagree though. No good arguing though.
