  Actually, the main reason the rumor is still alive is because it wasn't denied or dismissed. Square has been teasing us all for what seems like forever now. They said it wasn't in the plans, then they said its possible, then they said they could do it when the time is right, blah blah. I believe they have been teasing so much because they actually are working on a remake. If they really do have no intentions of doing it, then they will have pissed off a LOT of people. They really have dug their own hole at this point.

        Sqeenix haven't denied it. Heck, they've been doing nothing but feeding the rumors ever since the Tech Demo was released in '05.
        Their last "hint" (in January) was especially a tease for fans ...

        But of course, they're both extremely busy. If the remake becomes a reality, I don't expect it to release until the end of PS3's life cycle. And that's at the earliest.

  I can see this happening. Its just a question of time frame. Whether its already started or itll be in 5 years we wont know until they announce it. So unfortunately we all wait. Itll be good if/when it happens though
