Gamer who sent in his 360 with many collected signatures on it was washed clean. Microsoft realizing the mistake, sent over many gifts of which include, 1 Xbox 360 console (signed by original RT signers, new artwork by Luke McKay, signatures from Xbox 360 team, additional signatures from Bungie Staff), 1 Xbox 360 faceplate (signed by Bill Gates, among others), and many more goods. But does it truly make up for the mistake?

You've probably all heard the story of Nathaniel, the Xbox 360 gamer whose console, whilst it was being serviced by Xbox, was cleaned of all the signatures he'd carefully collected. Well the tale has finally come to an end, and Nathaniel has definitely got back more than what he lost.

IMO, it MORE than makes up for it. Microsoft and Bungee did some badass things to apologize.

Well you also have to consider that gaining the signatures through fun times is better than just having it handed to you know matter how much you were given.

It makes up for it, but it was like washing good times down the drain. =/

Awesome apology, love the artwork. Check out the little "Wash me" Master Chief! He needs to protect it with some sort of enclosure now. Kudos to him for being such a great sport about it in the first place. You can view the swag Bungie sent out over here.

Haha, while MS can be a bunch of douchebags sometimes, they do know how to stop bad press (especially among hardcore gamers like this guy, who could easily turn away potential millions of customers).

"Sharpie ink = fail" LOL! I also love the "MY NAME IS PAUL RUSSEL" and "MICROSOFT DO NOT WASH" note.

I wonder if he mentioned that his 360 had a lot of signatures on it...I know I would. Before sending it in I mean.

He wrote a very long letter and made several phone calls to ensure no harm came to the original signatures and artwork. Someone very spitefully went out of their way to scrub the Xbox 360 clean. Hence the apologies.

I wonder what Microsoft would do if this ended up on ebay?

I wouldn't. It could be worth a lot more in the future, and there probably won't be another chance to get the stuff.

And this is why I love Microsoft, sure they may *bleep* up from time to time, and sometimes really badly, but in the end they always try to fix their mistakes and thats how any company should roll imo.

God I'm jealous over the amount of stuff he actually got though, it just epicly kicks ass.

Damn right. Like with the RRoD warranties. At least Microsoft was kind enough to give everybody an extended 3-year warranty.

Holy *bleep*ing crap, awesome loot. Bet he's glad he sent it off now.

      InnerDemon Mar 25, 08
I wouldn't be. I would rather have something I worked for than something that was given to me because they made a mistake.

Are you serious? I doubt the original signatures included Tupac or some crap. This guy now has one of the most kickass 360's in existence. I doubt he can't sleep at night because his buddy's signature from across the street was replaced by Bill Gate's.

It sucks that the original signatures were erased, but there aren't much better ways to make up for it. Don't see how anyone could spin this as a bad thing.

Man, I gotta say, that's pretty epic. Hard to be mad at Microsoft after they went to so much trouble to apologize. Seriously awesome.

If I was him I'd definitely be satisfied with those gifts.

It's times like this that makes you think: "WWND?" or "WWSD?" since we all know what Jesus would do..

Very nice though, it'd be worth it to keep that around for when Bungie goes under and that stuff is worth more than the company itself..Nah, Lego Halo FTW!

    joshthegreat Mar 25, 08
Why the hell does he want so much Halo 3 stuff? Surely MS have cooler things to give him?
    • 1
      LordMaChao Mar 25, 08
I'm assuming they checked this guy's gamertag to see what he has and hasn't played - as I doubt they'd give him a shiny second copy of Gears of War. So maybe they noticed this guy has 1000/1000 in Halo 3 and has clocked in a lot of time in multiplayer?

Or maybe Halo 3 is just a hugely popular game to those that don't blindly hate it.

        Seproth Mar 26, 08
I'm not sure what you mean by "blindly" hate it, but there are plenty of reasons for hating Halo 3.

          LordMaChao Mar 27, 08
So you'd say there isn't a massive amount of people that have not played Halo 3 at all but still consider it the anti-Christ?

Seriously. It's pretty obvious there's a HUGE amount of people that know nothing at all about the Halo series but jump on the anti-Halo bandwagon any chance they can get. It's cool to hate popular things.

It's rare that a game is so unjustifiably DESPISED. 'Blindly' is a fine word. I don't see how it could shock or confuse you.
