It's March 25th, and thusly, Nintendo's WiiWare has launched in Japan, as a platform for developers with smaller budgets to produce quality, innovative games.

The launch titles are as follows:

  • Okiraku Ping Pong Wii - 500 Wii Points
  • Kotoba no Puzzle Mojipittan Wii - 1000 Wii Points
  • Saku Saku Animal Panic - 1000 Wii Points
  • Star Solider R - 800 Wii Points
  • Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King - 1500 Wii Points
  • Tenshi Solitaire - 500 Wii Points
  • Dr. Mario & Saikin Bokumetsu - 1000 Wii Points (Dr. Mario and Bacteria Extermination)
  • Minna no Pokemon Bokujou - 1000 Wii Points (Everyone's Pokémon Ranch)
  • Lonpos - 1000 Wii Points

Some of the more interesting tidbits are that FFCC: My Life as a King, Mojipittan, and Lonpos sport Nintendo's new pay-to-play structure, with each game sporting additional content for a fee. In the case of My Life as a King, extra Wii Points will be needed for extra costumes and the three other races in the CC universe. Pricing for the downloadable content will fall between 100-300 ($1-$3) Wii Points, although specifics are not finalized.

Expect gameplay videos and impressions soon, as sites and people start uploading them.

WiiWare will be available in the US on May 12, 2008.

Wow, those are some pretty reasonable prices. From $5 - $15 for a brand new game? Not bad at all.

It's alot more reasonable then charging $5 for the game "Pinball" for the NES. Ugh.

$5 to $15 dollars for a brand new game is insane. Nintendo has finally realized what people want, I believe: Quality games, for cheap. Downloading games is also much easier than producing all the discs, etc., which will help take down the amount of paper usage in this world. gg, Nintendo.

I see that FF:CC will have DLC, let's hope some future Wii titles will have this (stares at Rock Band).

        I mentioned that.

Also, Rock Band won't have DLC.
