With a very strong start to 2008 already established with the likes of Mario Kart Wii, Wii Fit and Smash Bros. Brawl, Nintendic looks ahead to the rest of the year at just how Nintendo will continue to dominate with the Nintendo Wii.

Nintendo has begun 2008 aggressively, like a company that really means business. After hinting that it would stagger its major releases so that players could digest each one properly before moving onto the next, the firm went ahead to confirm that (in North America at least), Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Kart Wii and Wii Fit would arrive together in a proximity best described as an overdose in gaming goodness. But what of the rest of the year as far as the Wii is concerned?

With this year’s E3 likely to bring us further details, Nintendic has compiled a list of what it knows Nintendo to have up its sleeve for the coming months, both for the core and casual audience, providing evidence as to why the motion-sensing console’s unstoppable momentum will continue throughout the year

Most Wii games, from what I've seen, also have classic controller or GC controller support, or both.

It depends on your taste, Chris. Me? I grew up with Nintendo, so there's no way I'll pass up an opportunity to get a party console at a reasonable price. If you have company over quite a bit, a Wii is a great way of entertaining.

Can't argue with that. The Playstation, most notably the Playstation 2, certainly has one of the best librarys on any console.

Final Fantasy did start with Nintendo, though I only liked IV from the beginning...I'd have to say that it shined with PS: VII, Tactics, VIII, and IX.

final fantasy as well as kingdom hearts and soul calibur and need for speed. o0o0o0 and god of war. my cousins have xbox 360 and i must say halo 3 is an awsome party game(though i suck at first person shooters lol).

so do u like wii or ps3 better, storm?

I honestly can't choose atm. It was easy between the GC and PS2, I'd choose PS2, but this...Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, etc., is heavy-hitting, whilst the PS3 has MGS4 and Killzone 2.

I have both a PS3 and a Wii, and my Wii easily gets more playtime (and I only have about three games for it, whereas I have six for PS3). The Wii is so interactive, and that's what I love about it!

Unless they start producing games with Mario, I don't see that happening.

I can understand how the Wii can get sales out being the cheapest, but I have to wonder if there are any great trump cards besides Brawl? I'm not interested in Mario Kart, and the Tales of Symphonia sequel is all I'm looking at.

Doesn't seem there's all that much distance it can go in the next year or so.

I'm willing to say that current game, Super Mario Galaxy, stands out from the crowd. Downloadable games such as the already released Super Mario 64, too.

I would wait until after E3 before I get really worried about Wii's future titles. Disasters is still an intriguingly title, and Nintendo supposedly has another big reveal lined up for the conference this year. IGN has already confirmed Kid Icarus Wii is in development, if you believe them, so unless that is the big announcement, that's another game to really look forward to. Finally, we really haven't heard a lot about third party games that are in development for Wii. Factor Five, unless working on said KI game, is supposedly in development of a Wii game, Retro, while not 3rd party, is working on a secret project, and I haven't seen much of anything from CAPCOM or Konami yet, both who have been putting out some descent titles for the system, especially Capcom. There are also projects we know about like Fatal Frame, Monster Hunter 3, Final Fantasy CCCB, and Red Steel 2 that we should be seeing more of as the year goes on.

1 large reason the wii will fail the people who actually play the games the hardcore gamers have nothing from them it is all casual and it will leave the gamers disappointed i think.

I love how people fanboys still believe this.

The Wii is NOT all casual gaming. In fact, I own about 8 Wii games, and I think the only casual one is Wii Sports.

It's certainly got a good chance of being the dominant console for this year. I can see it having it's ups and downs but there are also some good titles coming out for other consoles.

    An interesting arguement:

If the PS3 and XBox360 all have a lot of action titles that can be played in rounds and short bursts, are they not casual systems? I suppose my point is the choice of semantics and use of terminology to define a console.

Nintendo shows a lot of promise. They're known for that. Then again Nintendo also pusses out on what could have been very cool features. They're also known for that. We have to hope for a high promise-puss ratio.

The only problem is the first sentence pretty much stated everything the Wii has this year.

Animal Crossing is good. Unless you know the game I doubt you'd pick it up though. It's like the sims. It sounds shitty but it's fun. Some cool things on the list but too much speculation.
