An interview with Jack Niida, PR manager of NIS America, has revealed some new features for the the DS version of Disgaea and also whether disgaea will go multi-platform or not! Go to the source for more information.
Crispy Gamer recently caught up with NIS Americas PR Manager Jack Niida to discuss more about the project. The most obvious question had to be why bring this old game to the Nintendo DS, considering it came out on the PlayStation 2 six years ago and was only just ported to the PlayStation Portable last year. In response, though, Niida said it was quite an easy decision to make because our fans demanded it. Many of our fans had a DS but not PSP and seriously wanted this title, especially for the multi-player factor. When we get so many emails and calls voting for the DS system we just couldnt ignore it. If the fans want Disgaea on DS, then they shall get it. And as for those that may have grown tired of the original title by now, despite it having over a hundred hours of gameplay to wade through, the main feature of the DS version this time is the multi-player aspect. Now gamers can get a kick out of this game by destroying their buddys Laharl and Etna.
Below is a snippet from the interview:
Crispy Gamer: What new stuff does the DS version offer players that have played it on the PSP and PS2?
Jack Niida, NIS America: The intuitive stylus controls and dual screen is a huge plus, but there are newly added features and characters from our past titles, so there is still a lot of oomph left in this game.
Crispy Gamer:Any chance well see Disgaea on the Xbox 360 or Nintendo Wii?
Jack Niida, NIS America: Thats a very good question and we get that quite a bit. Its hard to say because of the difference in the game architecture, but I guess that argument wont hold with the release of Disgaea DS. Who knows, you might see something interesting coming out later in the year.
Crispy Gamer:What, if any DS specific features will Disgaea DS support?
Jack Niida, NIS America: Like I mentioned earlier, the biggest DS exclusive feature is the stylus and the dual screen [support]. Weve got a unique battle feature for the DS, so please look forward to it. More info should be released very soon.
