The Wiimote in the past has been used for physical therapy and surgeon training. But now it seems that the U.S. Army is adapting the Wiimote to help in bomb disposal, sniffing out land mines and explosives, as well as diffusing them.

David Bruemmer and Douglas Few said they adapted the video game controller, which utilizes wireless technology that detects three dimensional movement, to control Packbot, a robot with bomb disposal capability, Sky News reported Thursday.

Man, when I saw this title I immediately thought of the armies in loungin'.

I don't think that the Wii has enough fighting games to help army dude tbh.

It's more of the Wii technology of motion sensory in the Wiimote that are helping the real Army do that stuff. Not a game.

    Never would have guessed that.
It's interesting though to see how much the Wii really can help. I was impressed when I heard about Physical Therapy.

Yep gaming helps the military alot.

They use the 360 controller to control spy planes and the like.

They have also taken an interest in the "cell"

Interesting. It's amazing how much a video game console has done to society.
