A "Game of the Year" re-release of Call of Duty 4 for Xbox 360 is set to retail next month, sporting shiny new packaging and a download code for the upcoming Variety Map Pack.

It is not yet known whether the PlayStation 3 and PC versions of the game will see a similar re-release.

Activision has announced Call of Duty 4: Game of the Year Edition, which will be released in April.

The new game will feature the full COD4 game, as well as a token for use on Xbox Live, which will allow gamers to download the upcoming map pack.

Seeing as today is the last day of March, "next month" is actually "later this week"!

What's different about the Game of The Year version? I just don't get it. Just the new name?

Nice, looks like I will be getting this for sure , straight after it comes out, or maybe wait till it has gone down a bit, who knows

I really do wish I had waited to get CoD4, but hey, I think I'm more than satisified with my regular edition. I don't see the need to pay around $70 for a shiny case and maps that I can just purcahse via Xbox Live, but I can see this being a great buy for those who have hesitated to buy Call of Duty 4, because it really is a great game.
