GTA IV for Xbox 360 to Outsell PS3 Version by 2:1

OK, An analyst has come out and said that he predicts that GTA IV is going to have 9 Million copies sold, which he believes 6 Million will be for the Xbox360 therefore predicting the Xbox360 GTA IV game will outsell the PS3 version by 2:1.

Michael Pachter, an analyst at Wedbush Morgan Securities, has issued a note to investors forecasting that Grand Theft Auto IV will sell nine million copies worldwide by the end of the fiscal year (October 31, 2008), with six million of those units being Xbox 360 editions. That means that Pachter expects the Xbox 360 version to outsell the PS3 edition by a 2-to-1 ratio.

    Considering the amount of 360s to PS3s, how is this even news? Or even a better question, why bother speculating, why not just wait and see what ACTUALLY pans out? Who gives a *bleep*.

      Haha that's a good point. There are more 360's out there than PS3's sold, and it seems more likely with Microsoft's $50 million in advance for exclusive DLC.

      Anyway, I doubt this is much of a big deal; the people who actually play the game aren't thinking to themselves "Hot damn, my version sold so much better!" They're thinking, "Hot damn, this mission is tough!"

      Sales mean little. Unless you're a fanboy with ED who needs sales numbers to give himself thrills.

      Yeah, I remember an article indicating that the PS3 version would outsell the 360. Either way, I just care about enjoying the damn game and NOT which company is selling more units.

    Well, considering Microsoft got scared into paying a ridiculous amount for extra's it's obvious more people (who have the option) will get the 360 version. lol, Red 9 said it best anyway

      Well, there WAS a reason M$ emptied a quarter of their pockets for a decent slice of extra cake. Of course, extra content won't move a helluva lot of console. It'll move products, but not consoles, necessarily. There are a heckuva lot of PS2 owners who haven't moved next-gen yet, who are waiting for GTA for PS3.

      But like I said, most gamers won't even have second thoughts about sales. It's the game that matters; that's why you're buying it, right? Because I doubt people will buy GTAIV just to help sales. Unless you're a stockholder. Which I doubt most gamers are .

      Haha, that's funny cause Metal Gear Solid started as an Xbox exclusive, then became multiplatform and will probably end up selling more on another console.

      Wait, actually, that doesn't make any sense. I mean, unless you think GTA IV on the 360 outselling the PS3 version by at least a 2:1 ratio is as obvious as a PS3 exclusive selling more games on the PS3...
      I could be childish and mention the record breaking Halo 3 sales or something. But I won't. I'll just lawl.

          You never do. I'm saying comparing the 360vsPS3 sales of a game that was originally a Sony exclusive and is now multiplatform to a current Sony exclusive is idiotic. Get it? Replace MGS with GTA and Xbox with Playstation in the first sentence. c wut i did thar?

          In short, the above comment was pointless because MGS is exclusive and GTA is multiplatform...it would've made sense if MGS was multiplatform.

          It's still amusing to find people arguing about sales, not that they ever had a real reason to do so in the first place.
