The new Legend of Zelda Movie Trailer is releases, and it looks pretty awesome. They are real people, not animated, although parts of it are probably animated.

Placing a drawing pin on a colleague's seat, making a prank call, wearing a funny wig, informing a friend their entire family has perished in an accident - all classic April Fool's Day gags. But producing a high-budget action-packed CG-heavy trailer for a movie version of The Legend of Zelda? That's a whole new level of commitment.

Legend of Zelda

Kudos, then, to our friends at IGN.com, for we wonder if they've done just that - putting out a call for actors with green vests, long hair and pointy ears (possibly) and creating from scratch a full-length trailer for an imagined Zelda movie. We'd be surprised to learn that IGN had entered the motion picture production business, but the trailer is so convincing that we've found ourselves constantly checking the date in our diaries as well as the release date touted on the trailer - April 1st 2009 - and wondering if it's not just strange timing...

If the Link actor wasn't terribly ugly it might be a better try.

It's just a very well made April Fools Joke. Look at the date it was made, and the release date. I wish it was true!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The sad part is about this is that even though the trailer is a joke, the movie still looks freakin' badass.

I'm suprised that IGN would go this far, it's quite an impressive April Fool's joke. The trailer actually looks like it could make for a decent movie.

[seriousd00dmode]Damn these April Fools' jokes. This is seriously getting out of hand.[/seriousd00dmode] But anyway, it's quite well done.

If the actors didn't look so ugly, this would actually be a great trailer.

    That's brilliant ...

But yeah, Link's actor is pretty ugly. And Ganondorf looks way too fake.

Wow, looks pretty real. The actors don't look on cue, but their outfits are magnificent.

Yeah it does look good, but all the stuff at the end gives it away as another April Fools joke.

Actually good look prettygood there. Looks very real.

Yeah, Ganondorf looks way too fake. Link isn't good looking enough, and Zelda looks like a fifty year old woman whose had too much facial plastic surgery. The fact Link doesn't talk is also way too cliche. It's well done though.

Clearly not up to Hollywood standards, but a surprisingly well crafted "trailer".

Has anybody actually fallen for ign's April Fool's day jokes since the Sonic and Tails one?

Ugh, I can only imagine a Mario Movie being made out of this, that wouldn't be the best thing.

The actors are pretty hideous, I wonder if this will ever come out.

That was a very high-quality trailer.

I don't really think that Link was "too ugly".. but he was definitely too old. I always figured Link would be like 16.

    Funny!
But seriously, if someone actually made a Zelda Movie, i think that i would see it. (Depending on how well its made!)

Andrew, they already made a Mario movie like, way back in '93.

But I thought the trailer was pretty good. Too bad its fake. It does look pretty interesting.

Oh really? I really don't want to see it then, probably has the exact same storyline as a normal Mario game.

This was one of the better April Fool's jokes this year.

this is the best trailer i have ever seen. if they went this far, then why dont they just go into making the full movie?

      AznLiquid Apr 4, 08
Because an actual movie will still cost many times more than this. They'll have to write a script, find shooting locations, hire a cast, etc.
