It's pretty obvious to everyone by now that GTA IV will be big; most GTA titles are. However, just how big will it be? Current estimates are stating that Rockstar's new entry into the GTA series will overwhelm Halo 3's first week sales statistics, and we're just talking about the 360 version here!

This game will likely sell consoles and do a lot for Microsoft and Sony both. The question now is: Which company will GTA IV do more for? Either way, Rockstar and Take-Two win, but the superior version will have to be determined after the game's release...

Janco Partners analyst Mike Hickey believes betting on GTA IV success is a pretty sure wager for Microsoft;” Grand Theft Auto IV could sell 5.8 million copies in its first week, giving it retail sales of US$360 million, which would be bigger than the US$300 million Halo 3 did in its first week last year”

Due for release on April 29th GTA IV is expected to do big things for the coffers of not only Microsoft, but also Sony (with the PS3 version), developer RockStar as well as publisher, and take over target Take-Two.

The discs will have the same content, yes, but the 360 version will have additional downloadable content, so they're not completly identical.

Would GTAIV live up to the hype? It's true that a GTA game has never disappointed us, but how would this turn out to be?

I think it will no doubt. Especially with it being multi-platform and not a one party exclusive.
