Gamers aren't the only ones frustrated with Nintendo's lack of creativity these days. Masahiro Sakurai, the producer of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, is complaining that there aren't any new Nintendo characters that he can use in potential future Super Smash Bros. games, though it doesn't exactly come across that way.

Come on Nintendo, give in to Sakurai and the masses of gamers that could drown you out like a tidal wave already; a new character-driven video game series will mean more money. Think like Sony and Microsoft for once.

When they’re all lined up like this, it becomes obvious that there is roughly 6-year blank before and after Pikmin. While there have been big series since then like "Animal Crossing," "Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day," and "Wii Sports" it does seem that coming up with a completely new character-driven series has gotten more difficult recently

Thank you, Sakurai (As long as he doesn't pull a Street Fighter 3 with the SSB series, I agree). Nintendo can't possibly believe that they can bring in and keep more fans if all they'll do is recycle characters from the '80s and on.

Originality is a difficult thing to accomplish in the gaming industry these days, but I'm sure with Nintendo's experience they could come up with some new characters.

Note to Nintendo: Another Mario spinoff doesn't count.

Agreed, bringing in characters from way back when was a cool idea, although they could have thrown in a few new ones as well.

I want some new characters too. It's time for Nintendo to explore in the more mature areas of gaming.

Here's a list of character themes and possible character ideas...

Shooter - Badass loose cannon Police officer or Army Soldier, Genetically Modified Army Soldier.

Beat Em' Up - Karate Gi wearing Super Fighter or Wise Cracking Street Fighter, both preferably African American.

Monster - Monster running around killing humans, other monster, and the occasional bad critic.

Superheroes - Speaks for itself, some Superpowerful dude running aroud saving people, needed powers - Super Strength, Super Speed Flight, and smexy Energy Beams.

That's all I can think of right now, I shall be back.

yep,the characters in brawl seem somewhat old,pit and olimar were desperate attempts seeing as they didn't have many characters to add,Geno was taken out and that was from an old mario game for the SNES i think, where's:

jet the hawk[or his crew]:seriously he has somewhat potential and he's one of the characters that isn't like made fun of or anything.

shadow the hedgehog:one sonic character?really?c'mon tail, knuckles, shadow, silver, blaze,dr. eggman, chaos and ch-aos are all waiting and they're just trophies in brawl, dissapointing really.

waluigi:why wario and not him, sure he's an assist trophy in brawl but without him it seems like Nintendo is trying to keep Mario and Luigi on top.

a pokemon:any, you have 493 to choose out of and only 6 were put in,486 others were just plain out underused, yeah we still have Spear Pillar for a stage and it has Palkia,Dialga,Mesprit,Azelf,Uxie and Cresselia and the pokeball Pokemon but ther could've been a lot more added.

there's more but there's too many.

Nintendo LISTEN to Sakurai.PLEAZE for all us Smash Bros. Fans.

You do realize that you just listed a bunch of already existing characters, right? It sounds like your plea is more for the SSB team than Nintendo.

Nintendo needs more characters, please, they should start a whole new series or something. If they don't then Nintendo will start to fail, and then the future Smash Bros. games could end up not being that great.

Funny, considering several of Nintendo's new feature characters didn't meet Sakurai's standards for characters in Brawl. Some examples that come to mind are Issac, or any character from Golden Sun, Jill from Drill Dozer, Chibi Robo, and Giest.

All the new character driven series aren't popular enough to warrant brawl inclusion outside of AT's

Come on Golden Sun! SELL COPIES!

First off, Sakurai needs to start digging up noteworthy
characters from the past and THEN worry about new characters...

Nintendo needs to capitalize on the Ninja craze sweeping japan...

Also, more characters like Travis Touchdown

Funny, in yesterday's Dojo update he mentioned that it was 6 years since Pokemon that Nintendo came up with a new series, Pikmin, and 6 years since. He also said that Nintendo didn't have asmuch creativity as back in the 80's.

If they don't make more characters, then Nintendo will have to rely on 3rd partys to bring in more smashers.

Finally, someone has thought about this. Mario and Pokemon has lived too long.

They should continue the old series, but also start some new ones, they are going to get quite repetitive.

1 or 2 more Sonic characters. Preferably Knux and Shadow. Knuckle Joe from Kirby. Toon Zelda/Sheik. C'mon sakurai, you have more than you think to choose from

Yes, but he's already used at least one from most of the noteworthy character-driven games out there. He wants more character-driven series from Nintendo so that he doesn't have to keep using characters from the same old series over and over again, even if they're new to SSB.

I think you mean Toon Zelda/Tetra, but you're right. Sakurai does have more to chose from. Although I wouldn't like any more Sonic characters. Alot of people think even 1 is way to much.

This is like Mario, what a game that was though. Still if it is as any good as Mario is will be amazingly good. Cannot see that happening though.

More Sonic characters. Less Mario characters. I think it may be Kirby's time to go.
Add some Fire Emblem characters too. And more POKEMONS!

Anyway, they need more series altogether. Not another sequal. Ninjas make good characters. Even take some from Dragon Mosters Worriers if possible. Those games were good.
We need more games like Pokemon and Dragon Monsters I and II.

Eh, I'd rather see different types of games. I've never been a fan of the "gotta catch 'em all" type games. They get boring and repetitive quickly. Nintendo could do with more RPGs along the lines of Sony's Legend of Dragoon.
