Were you planning on using the Classic controller or Gamecube controller for Mario Kart Wii?
Unfortunately, if you want to play the game to it's full extent, you will have to use the Wii-Wheel or Wiimote, as the Classic and Gamecube controllers won't allow players to perform every maneuver in the game.

Oh my. Anyone preparing to throw the Wii Wheel out with the bathwater when their copy of Mario Kart arrives may want to know this. The latest fact sheet handed to us from Nintendo contains some notes on the game's four control schemes. Here's what it says for the Classic and GameCube controls:

• Classic Controller: Mario Kart veterans can let their thumbs do the driving with the Classic Controller. However, players cannot perform certain moves with this control scheme.
• Nintendo GameCube™ Controller: Experienced Mario Kart fans may also enjoy this familiar scheme, although some maneuvers cannot be performed.

I can see how people would be angry, but I actually planned on using the Wii Wheel. Wanted to try something new.

How unfortunate, it must be irritating if you planned to use those two styles of gameplay. Preference for the player doesn't seem as if though it was thought about here. However, it does not affect me because, as gamefreak101, I planned on using the Wii Wheel or Wiimote anyway.

*bleep*ing gay. It's kind of unfair to players who can't get 4 Wii Wheels, but have 4 Gamecube Controllers.

I guess it is Nintendo's way of getting people to use the wii-wheel. They stated the wii-wheel a lot in there updates and it's become like their prized possession. Either that or they just couldn't get in the same functions with the other controllers like you could on the wii-wheel.

I'm sure it would be possible to make it them work with a button combination. Mario Kart doesn't take that many controls. I can't imagine it would be that hard to make them work on the the GC and classic controllers. This really isn't fair.

Why is it that they keep trying to make good games and then mess them up with disappointment after disappointment, especially when several of these additions would be easy to implement? Don't they realize that a little extra work = a lot of extra profit?

Some people would be really pissed at this. But the Wii Wheel can't be bad, right?

I know that I'm only going to use the Wii Wheel, so it's alright for me.

They're just trying to get people to use it, and then probably getting more sales from it.

i don't mind using any of the controls,at least there are 4 different types and then poor Nintendo would've made the wii-wheel for nothing while players use the GC or classic controls.

If it had an option to play it like Excite Truck then it wouldn't be as bad. I am still unsure of how it will feel...

Pfft. Nintendo should either allow all four controllers to be used at 100%, or simply not allow certain ones.
It's silly (and annoying) for them to tell the puiblic that all 4 controllers can be used for the game, when in reality only two of them can be used to the game's full extent.

I think that the game should make steering wheels that actually plug into the Wii System. It gets really hard to hold your arms up for like 3 minutes steering a wheel. The GCN controllers would be a good idea in my opinion too, because then you wouldn't have to use as much energy, but it does set an unfair advantage if you're versing somebody who's on the GCN controller, and you're on the Wiimote.

How does it get hard to use? You just have to hold it up a little bit, it's not that hard.
