More details about the length of Grand Theft Auto IV's story mode have been revealed after the BBFC's recent rating of the game. Nearly eight hours worth of cutscenes were submitted to the board for review, reassuring gamers that there'll be a lot to see when the game reaches stores worldwide April 29.

The BBFC has rated Grand Theft Auto IV with a rating of "18" in the UK. Seven hours and forty-three minutes of cutscenes and five hours and twenty minutes of gameplay were given to the board so they could properly review the game.

[...]

If you fail a mission in the game, you get different dialogue in the cutscenes the second time and maybe even more times, so several versions of each cutscene may have been sent to the BBFC. Thanks to Adriaan for letting me know.

I spent less than 8 hours on God of War in total.

    edit.

Since I'm getting negative thumbed I assume you think I'm taking a stab at GoW.

I'm not I'm just pointing out that the cutscenes of this game last longer than what a playthrough of GoW did for me.

Surprizingly, having 8 hours of cut scenes is too much. I assume this game is going to take atleast a week or even a month to complete.

2 weeks at 8 hours a day according to Rockstar and their game testers, may i add that is only for the storyline, they didn't collect all the hidden packages, go online, find all 200 in-game websites, do all the export missions, do the vigilante missions etc... It was 2 weeks about 112 hours if you play it for 8 hours everyday, double it, triple it if you add in the extra stuff... Free Roam is a game in itself so the game is easily 6 months long.

If they have Cops n Crooks, I would think they still have vigilante missions, especially with the use of the police computer data system.

There are vigilante missions aswell as a new type of mission activated through the police onboard computer, this plays out rather like vigilante but is more of a manhunt than just chasing a car.

I'm surprised they managed to fit that much on the DVD9.

Its not pre rendered the file sizes are small, all it is, is simulation data run through the game engine, sure the voice work is precanned but the rest isn't.

Yeah, there doesn't appear to be any pre-rendered graphics in the game. Well, maybe some opening credits thing will be (not opening mission. I mean something like a 'zoom forward and GTA IV logo gets displayed'), but even that I doubt.

    Everything will probably be rendered.

I bet the audio will take up a majority of the space.

Long-arse game though, which is good

Hm, looks like this game will be long. Ah well, that means I'll be able to play it for a while, so not such a bad thing to me as a gamer.
