According to THQ executive Jack Sorenson, the battle between Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony, is 'totally irrelevant'. It's not about who wins, but more about how much an independent publisher can do business wise on the platforms.

THQ executive Jack Sorenson has branded the hardware battle between Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo as "totally irrelevant", arguing that the rewards offered by each represent a "win" for games publishers.

Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz last week at THQ's product showcase in San Francisco, the US publisher's head of worldwide studios said there was "too much of an emphasis on the sports aspect of who's winning and losing", and that his company was focusing on opportunities rather than installed base.

"I think [the console war] is totally irrelevant. Even in the history of the business, other than something like the Dreamcast, you can do decent business on lots of platforms," he explained. "So the issue is not who wins, it's can an independent publisher do a good business on that platform. We're thinking everything from high-end MMO all the way to cell phones."

To tell the truth, yes. I thought it was more between graphics and gameplay.

It doesn't matter as long as it's not GameGrep. Though GameGrep is part of the Neoseeker network, GameGrep is a community site, and Neoseeker articles aren't posted by normal members.

Yeah, it doesn't really matter. Although it's in the interest of independent developers to release to the largest market that they can.

So many people disagree with this and are like YEAH WELL, MY CONSOLE IS GONNA WIN.

    Fags.

I don't really have the money to own all consoles. I plan on getting a PS3 eventually...probably the MGS4 pack.

So I root for 360...the more it sells the more likely things will be ported to it. Once I get a PS3 I won't care anymore.

It's not fanboyism it's hmm...selective cheering or something like that lol

This. Article. Phails. People round here continue to point out the blatantly obvious, or just post stuff nobody really needed to know to begin with...

Well, two things, the first is if people are posting obvious things than why read them? If you see something with a title about something you already know than why read it, let alone comment on it?
Secondly, the news isn't about the war's irrelevance. That's already established (to anyone over 12/who doesn't work for a console company). The news is about the THQ executive announcing his views on it which, albeit not the most interesting thing to some, is still notable nonetheless.

I thank this guy, i mean the console can battle on trying to outo eachother but yet they prove nothing as all the consoles do provide us with something different from eachother in the way they all have there exclusive games and features.

All of it together means nothing to me. As long as Sony provides the games that I am hoping for then it is all good

A better reasoning for the title is that because in 1 or 2 generations they'll just make everything for the PC. Buying 3 consoles every so many years isn't something people will keep putting up with.
