Today it was announced that Orlando Bloom will be playing the role of the prince in the new Prince of Persia movie, despite a worlwide survey revealing that 70% of 15 million people voted for actor and real prince of Persia - David K Zandi - to play the role.

But Disney was quick to dispell this 'news' as a rumour, and announced that Orlando Bloom hasn't been cast as the prince. (though they're not ruling him out).

This might be good news, or it might be bad news.
It means that the real prince of Persia (Zandi) and Zac Efron are back in the race to become the star of the PoP movie.

A rumor is spreading fast through the internet (we believe it originated at World Entertainment News Network, aka WENN) that Orlando Bloom has landed a $40 million payday to star in a movie trilogy based on the "Prince of Persian" video game. The rumor stated that he had beaten competition from Zac Efron to take the role and even said that Jerry Bruckheimer will direct.

Walt Disney Pictures, however, tells ComingSoon.net that there is no truth to these rumors.

Aren't you a gamegrep approver? Did you honestly just approve your own article that is an exact duplicate of one on the front page and in the top news stories? Seriously now. I have nothing against you personally. But this is just *bleep*ing absurd.

If you aren't a gamegrep approver... well then I'm sorry about lashing out at you. What approver did approve this though, this is ridiculous.

She didn't approve it. I approved it. And what are you talking about? It's NOT a duplicate.

Orlando Bloom wins out over the Prince of Persia for PoP movie
Orlando Bloom will NOT play the Prince of Persia!

I fail to see how it's a duplicate.

And for the record, approvers don't approve their own articles.

Apart from the fact that you just embarrassed yourself with how wrong you were (about it being duplicated), you should know that NO Approver can approve their own articles The reason is obvious.

Actually mate the previous article(s) were about the Real Prince of Persia getting the role, then about Orlando getting it instead. This article is to clarify and make sure people know that Orlando is a rumour.

Try reading before you snap. otherwise you look like a tool and a fool

I didn't even know a PoP movie was coming out. Surely it'll be good.

I have this sinking feeling that it'll turn out much the same as Tomb Raider. A horrbily failed attempt at turning an action game into a movie. Although I will concede that at least PoP has a much better game and story to draw from as a base.

At the end of the day this movie, just like the rest, will fail. Why cause they always try to make it similar to the game rather than doing something like what the Bourne Game is doing. But that my opinion.

What? The Bourne is a Movie -> Game adaption. This is a Game -> Movie adaption. Totally different, you can't refer to the Bourne game or movie when talking about Game to Movie, Movies.

The Bourne game has nothing to do with the movies besides being Bourne. Their trying to remain true to the novels and thats why they chose to use a new Bourne as opposed to using Matt Damon's likeness.

          Final Blade Apr 9, 08
Just the same. The movie needs to have its own story and nothing like the Game, thats why Games to movies always fails. They try so hard to make it similar that it just becomes a failure. Same thing as Movies to games, which is why i used the Bourne movie to game. They are focusing on different stuff rather than trying to make it similar to the movie.

Tbh, I think it's the opposite. Movies tend to be nothing ike the games, and that's what makes fans angry. Resident Evil movies are a fine example of this. Same goes for most Uwe Boll movies too (Alone in the Dark in particular).

I think one of the better game-to-movie adaptations was Silent Hill because it had many similarities to the game. Sure, the movie wasn't great, but I got a kick out of watching the things like real world "decay" into the Silent Hill world, hearing the siren just before everything went dark, and seeing characters like Lisa Garland and Cybil Bennet play roles that were kinda of similar to their original game roles. (which is more than I can say for that wimpy version of Jill Valentine in the RE movies >_>)

(I'm just glad Capcom have realized the Hollywood RE movies are crap, and are making their own proper Resident Evil movie).

I would actually see Bloom rather than the guy on the far right. That guy does not look like a guy who would make a good prince. I just don't see it. >_<

I hope Disney considers about having Zandi star in PoP.

I think Disney will cast him eventually. He brought in tons of money with the Pirates trilogy, they may go after him to do the same with this trilogy as well.

Besides, I'd much rather him play the role because of his acting skills and his resemblance to the Prince (minus the goatee).
