The newest firmware update for the PSP is now out. Among the updates, you can now edit controls when playing PSX games while on your PSP. The other notable feature is useless for those of us without a PS3, however, so it's hardly worth mentioning here. If you want to know, check out the source.

If you're looking to update your PSP, go here for the update.

PlayStation Network head Eric Lempel has revealed that a new PSP firmware is coming and will be available shortly. Firmware 3.95 will introduce two new features, the first of which is the ability to customize control settings in PSP PSOne settings. The second is a more PlayStation 3 centric feature, allowing PSP owners to turn off their PS3 console or leave it on when exiting from a Remote Play session.

Another ripoff update from dear old Sony.
"customize control settings in PSP PSOne"
This isn't really necessary, is it? I mean, we can still set the L2/R2 and right analogue stick to other buttons even with the previous ones.

You guys are *bleep*ing idiots, I mean wtf... there's a reason you update these things, it wouldn't really kill you to spend a couple of minutes of your life downloading it, would it? Or are you gonna cry because you just spent your miserable minutes for the thing to download? I never understood why people complained about this shit...

      Don't even waste your time.

I find it funny that Avalith found it necessary to post this article, however, and go on to say that the rest of the features are only for PS3 owners, so theres no point in posting them here. wtf?

Have you ever even friggin' heard of homebrew or Custom Firmware. That is the reason some of us don't update. We prefer custom firmware.

Most of these updates came as means to thwart homebrew until the Pandora's Battery came along. Please don't talk about what you don't know.
          Here's a list :
1.50 : Prevents homebrew from directly being run.
1.51 : Prevents KXploited homebrew of 1.50 from being run.
          2.01 : Blocks TIFF exploit of 2.00.
2.81 : Blocks LibTIFF exploit of FWs upto 2.80.
          3.10 : Blocks GTA-LCS exploit of FWs upto 3.03.
3.51 : Blocks Lumines exploit of FWs upto 3.50.

None of these firmwares ^^ brought us anything useful. They were just cover ups to their original intention : Thwart homebrew.

Oh right, because they SHOULD let you pirate the games? You really aren't thinking this straight AT ALL...so you got Homebrew, they don't give a shit, they're SUPPOSED to get rid of it....it's only *bleep*ing logical that they do so.

They should at least try to bring something worthwhile, without using lame excuses to thwart homebrew.

Oy, you mental deficit *bleep*, there's a fine difference between Custom Firmware and Official Firmware and:

          1) Your dumbass needs to realize that Sony is providing for those who use the PSP as Sony intended them to (That means no Homebrew, dipshit).

          2) And too bad you got screwed? Nobody really cares, Updates serve the general PSP owner population AND they need to take care of their own business by getting rid of any illegal software.

Next time, do yourself a favor and let competent people do the talking.

Seeker X they do have a point, right now i only see you arguing about something that isn't worth it. Who cares. You like the updates fine, They don't cause they use homebrew fine. To each their own.
I see nothing benefiting me personally cause i really only play my games on it. I rarely watch videos on it, and rarely listen to music. I only update if i have no choice, since when im about to play my games it prompts me to, to play new released games. Other than that i couldn't really careless about the PSP updates.

That's not the *bleep*ing point. Jeezus, I feel like I'm going around in circles. The updates don't take forever, it's a simple process, download/install/keep playing. There is NO real reason to complain, none whatsoever, you're either being picky or you're pissed cuz you can't pirate anymore games...neither which constitute as legitimate.

Can't you stop being a moron? No one ever complained as such. Read the first 3 comments before your first moronic comment. You'll notice that we weren't complaining, but merely remarking that Sony is throwing out pointless firmware updates.

And about CFW : Forget about piracy. If you knew the other things CFW allows you to do, would you still think it's useless?

Nice of you to read, idiot. I covered both (if not EVERY) reason why people complain, and you fall in the first one.

And I don't give a damn if CFW works, Sony can't support it and they gotta get rid of it, no way around it, and you're dumb as shit if you think otherwise.

I'm sick of trying to explain things to people like you. Why can't Sony support homebrew officially? AFAIK, They allow Linux to be installed on the PS3. That itself is support for homebrew without a risk of piracy. Why can't they do something similar with the PSP? They just try to thwart homebrew completely because of piracy.
Whereas, they could enable us to use user-mode homebrew without kernel-mode access so that pirate apps (such as ISO loaders) would be made.
You probably are jealous of the people who have CFW. This is just a case of sour grapes.

I have nothing against Homebrew, hell I'd use it if I used my PSP more often but facts are facts. If they allow you to use it, they might as well sell their games (or just give them to you) digitally all around and forfeit UMD as a whole.

In case you don't know, they already sell the games digitally. It's just that they still keep the UMD format because not everyone has the ability to purchase things online or download very large files.

What, the Store? The PSP Store has like Twisted Metal and a couple of other Arcade games with the classics. Releasing the majority of games digitally is a bad idea in of itself, mostly because I know that there are not that many people that actually upgrade their (expensive as *bleep*) Memory sticks.
