A song writer complains that the animation used for his song in Guitar Hero 3 perverts the song. Honestly I couldn't help but laugh at what was written as he went on to say that what would kids think of this. It's interesting though as it does come from a professional song writer 'Charlie Daniels'. He says the song is meant to be light hearted but the game portrays the song to be otherwise in making the player go against a devil who almost usually beats the player.

Charlie Daniels, the writer and musician responsible for 'The Devil Went Down to Georgia,' has hit out against Guitar Hero 3 for perverting the meaning of his music.

"[The song] is supposed to be a lighthearted novelty about a fiddling contest between a country boy and the devil and the devil always loses," Daniels posted on his personal website.

"That is not the case with the Guitar Hero version which comes complete with a horned, guitar-playing devil who battles the player and very often wins."

Daniels, who lost the rights to the song in a settlement with a former partner, is apparently upset about the inclusion of a graphical devil on song 42 whom players have to battle in a rock-hard face-off.

"This game looks innocent enough," Daniels states, "but if you have a child who is playing it, take the time to sit with him or her while they're playing along and take a serious look at the images on the screen. You may be surprised at the world they're being exposed to."

We would like to offer our thoughts on the devil in GH3, but we haven't got there yet. Knights of Cydonia is still kicking our arses.

BLow it out your ass, Daniels. You might be good at the violin, but you don't have any idea what the world of rock and roll is about. Guitars, girls, and money.

He wrote the song, so I say let him complain. If anyone has a right to, it's him. I may not agree with him (my problem with the cover is that it's a terrible cover), but I can see where he's coming from.

He has every right to complain. That was his song and Activision remade it to suit the nature of the game. I can see where he's coming from though. If I write a hardcore metal song and then lost the rights and its remade into a sentimental country song, I'd be pissed too.

And Jaw Knee, you can blow it out your ass.

Amen. "Devil went down to Georgia" is one of my favorite songs, and I enjoy to listen to it when played by Charlie. Now, first time I heard the song would be on Gutar Hero, I was glad, thinking "Well, they at least added another good song." Then I actually saw one of my friends play it, and I was pissed. They butchered the song, and like Charlie said, changed the context meaning it had. Personally, I hope he has some type of legal rights to the song and gets to do something about it.

Once I saw it was Charlie Daniels I figured he was upset because they "metal-ized" the song. I'm just wondering why he's complaining about it now as the game has been out for months.

You gotta be kinding, DWDTG is probably the best song on Guitar Hero III (can't wait for DLC by the way), it is A MILLION times better than the original.

And who can't beat Knights of Cydonia for gods sake, its one of the easiest songs... weird.

The original is like the Ten Commandments - it is sacred and isn't meant to be tampered with. Sure I enjoyed playing the song, but it felt wrong doing it.

Thanks for clearing that up for me as I was only going by what theundertakergonzo had stated in his summary.

Yes it's his creation, but he has no right to complain the song's not yours. It's a video game grow up.
