PS3 outsells everything in Europe... yes even the Wii and DS

The Playstation 3 is definitely on the rise now, this week in Europe the PS3 was at the top of the charts in hardware sales (a rarity even with the new 40GB version) which is believed to be caused by the release of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. And who says exclusives don't shift consoles?

    This is a good sign to see that the Playstation 3 is currently on the rise in the Europe though it only just managed to beat the DS xD. I hope this continues as it would be good for all

      Maybe because they can't afford to play next gen consoles?

      Besides, PS2 still has games coming out for it and they're pretty cheap compared to the next gen games. And imo, PS2 still has games that outclass both the 360 and the PS3 imho.

      I've never been able to figure that one out myself. What were they playing before PS2s? Were they still polishing off Super Mario 64 and decided to advance themselves to being only a decade behind the trend?

      its usually new gamers getting them cause since the release of new gen its really affordable to get now.cause not every gamer cares for the latest stuff like my older brother just wanted to play madden 08 so he got one a couple months ago lol.

      Why doesn't the 40GB model they're pushing so hard include BC?

      Fact is, not everyone rushes to throw away a library of games they built up over the years just because something pretty and new comes out, further is that they generally want to continue being able to enjoy those games if they wish. On top of that it's absurdly cheap to own a PS2 and have it for portability. On top of even that, the original PS2's had their own share of problems and owners like myself are now stuck either constantly replacing fan fuses in their V5 or just finally getting a new slimline.

      So yeah, there's a lot of factors, you just have to you know... think.

        its weird to think of video game units failing on people cause ive never had one not work. just good luck i guess though. my ps2 loves me ive had it 4ever not one problem.

    It's pretty funny that people are actually buying PS2's. But the sales of DS and Wii's look strong so this a very good sign for Nintendo I would say.

          It's just a weekly statistics report...I don't see why it's immediately assumed to be a flame war magnet. Granted, monthly reports are a bit more useful than weekly ones.

    I can't believe the PS2 is still up there. But then again, it has a built in DVD player, has great games, and costs like $150 over where I live.

    How do you know he hasn't already got a PS3, 360 or Wii? Maybe he wants it just for the kicks, or maybe he has a massive collection of systems and his PS1 conked out so he wanted to buy another one. I mean i can get one for 15 quid, I think i might buy one just for the laugh and memories

    That is good for the PSP. There are a lot of great games that have been released for it. The DS was not far behind. It is still hanging in there.

    I don't really like the PS3 to be honest, so I don't know why people would buy them. I haven't played on it much in consideration to the Wii.

      Yeah I agree. Hopefully when I decide to get mine, it'll have sold heaps more and had a few price drops. And I think it's just Singstar and Guitar Hero that keeps the PS2 going

    I still buy PS2 games as well and also I bought a new
    PS2, because there are no games for PS3 that I feel like
    I have to have as far as I know at this point.

    Maybe when Sims 3 comes out for the PS3 or Xbox 360 and if
    it takes advange of the hard drive and if it is not
    available for the PS2, then in that case I be motivated
    to buy a PS3 or Xbox 360.

      Im, guessing you have'nt seen any next-gen games? Also what do you mean by taking advantage of the hardrive? PS3 sometimes makes you install games onto the hardrive just to play them
