Will the Wii be getting a 40% price drop by May? Although the Wii has fine sales at the moment, various sites have rumored that Nintendo will drop the price soon to increase sales even more.

It also looks like we will see a Mario Kart bundle in the future.

Wii is still going down a storm, but that hasn't stopped rumours that the console will see its price slashed by a whooping 40 percent by May.

The cost of a Wii could be cut from €249 to €149, with a Mario Kart bundle launched at €199 at some point this Spring, a "source of France Nintendo" has apparently told Jeux France.

The source also details a two-game bundle, titles unspecified, with two Wii Remotes included, for a total price of €249. A saucy bundle indeed.

But we find such a significant price drop very hard to believe - especially when Nintendo doesn't seem to be having any problem shifting consoles at the moment.

Why? Its already affordable i don't see the Wii lowering its price anytime soon, maybe at the end of this year but even then is a slight Maybe.

Nintendo needs needs to carry out a Wii a price cut in the UK. Microsoft have forced their hand. A Xbox 360 Arcade is now only £160. That's £20 cheaper than a Wii!

Gamers who opt for the regular Premium console are now only spending £200. That is, again, within £20 of the Wii's price.

The Wii is 250 pounds (I don't know the ascii thingy for the symbol; shut up >__> ) in Europe? That seems pretty high priced compared to the $280 CAD price. Normally the difference is substantial. Poor Europeans are getting ripped off. :

That's Euros. It's €249 in Europe and £179 in the UK. This cut would lower it to a very appealing €149 (that's around £119).

With the Wii still in super high demand, I don't see any reason why they need to drop the price.

I don't have a Wii yet but since I'm going to have to pay for mines myself this will help greatly.

Although $250 was cheap enough but a 40% drop down rate.

This would be good for Europe, because Wiis are more expensive over there, but for America, I don't see it dropping below $200.

I would be pretty surprised if they cut the price in May because Wiis still sell the moment they are put on the shelf. What's the point of lowering the price of something that is selling a ton anyway? A Mario Kart Wii bundle seems likely, but I wonder what would become of Wii Sports.

I feel it's a little early to drop the price, since so many people are still wanting to buy one. Once the demand dies down (that could take forever) then it would be a good idea (for them anyway). I bet the buyers would love this news if it became true.

I could see by end of the forth quarter a price cut for a Wii, but May. It doesn't seem like it will happen, since Wiis' are still selling like hotcakes. I think that they would dominate Christmas sales if there was a price cut. Hopefully there's a price cut, so I can get my Smash Bros. on!

I can see this happening just for the sheer fact Nintendo can, this console costs them nothing to make, they are making almost 100% profit on the system, sure ts selling lots still but right now with the Xbox 360 Arcade cheaper than a Wii, Nintendo need to show that they aren't going to roll over and die, that it isn't like the Gamecube.

They don't need to lower their price, they just need to make online decent.

As Eureka mentioned, it's selling quite well, and is the cheapest in the market. I can see them hitting a few bucks off if Microsoft or Sony drop their prices a bit more, though.
