EA had presented gamers with the concept that "if you want these oh so smexy weapons, you'll need to lay down some $$ first!" which, to put it shortly, consumers would need to pay for the DLC of more and better weapons.

In an interview earlier today, EA's Karl-Magnus Troedsson, senior producer on Battlefield: Bad Company told of the companies decision to scrap that idea. I hear gamers rejoicing at this point. Hold your horses, lets not jump to conclusions, I'm not done yet. You will still need to lay down some cash to get the weapons. The 5 explicitly better weapons will be available for free to those who purchase the "Gold Edition" from the sounds of it, this is only a limited time offer for Gold Edition owners.

Non-Gold Edition owners will have to work for the weapons by hitting the top level of 25. So, if you want those 5 weapons out of the box you'll need to put down some extra cash, otherwise earn them! good to hear EA's retracting the DLC price tag.

I guess that makes more sense. If you want to the best weapons, you're going to have to work for it.

This is probably going to encourage a lot of boosting, though.

This is currently how Call of Duty 4's system works. EA also did this for Battlefield 2. BF2 was a heck of a lot more tedious than CoD4, though.

Plus you can still kick ass with the default Call of Duty 4 weapon-set.

If they are better I don't like the fact that I could be outgunned by someone just because they bought the gold edition.

I agree with this guy. It gives an unfair advantage to someone just because they paid extra, not because they earned it.

Then again, if you're good enough, fancy guns shouldn't matter.

WTF? I changed my reserve SKU to the Gold edition because I thought that I'd NEVER get the higher-up guns without having paid the extra $10, now I can I just have to rank up and unlock them? What a load of bullcrap, I have to change my reserve back over now.

Thats stupid, that means this is not fair for people who can't afford it. They should make it the same for everyone, make it a even playing field. Gives players advantage over others is not right imo.

Can't afford it? It's $10 more. What are you talking about?

PLus why should we have to buy the gold edition to get them?

But Seraph it's only a limited time offer, as well, meaning those who get in early will have an advantage of over players

Thus my point. Who's going to shell out more money for a gold edition when they should just allow everyone to get it the same why. It doesn't gives others an advantage.
