EA had presented gamers with the concept that "if you want these oh so smexy weapons, you'll need to lay down some $$ first!" which, to put it shortly, consumers would need to pay for the DLC of more and better weapons.
In an interview earlier today, EA's Karl-Magnus Troedsson, senior producer on Battlefield: Bad Company told of the companies decision to scrap that idea. I hear gamers rejoicing at this point. Hold your horses, lets not jump to conclusions, I'm not done yet. You will still need to lay down some cash to get the weapons. The 5 explicitly better weapons will be available for free to those who purchase the "Gold Edition" from the sounds of it, this is only a limited time offer for Gold Edition owners.
Non-Gold Edition owners will have to work for the weapons by hitting the top level of 25. So, if you want those 5 weapons out of the box you'll need to put down some extra cash, otherwise earn them! good to hear EA's retracting the DLC price tag.

This is probably going to encourage a lot of boosting, though.
Then again, if you're good enough, fancy guns shouldn't matter.
