PS3 Firmware 2.30 available April 15th 2008

Sony Computer Entertainment Japan (SCEJ) has revealed that PS3 firmware 2.30 will be available to download on Tuesday 15th April 2008. The firmware update will allow access to the new PlayStation Store.

According to the Japanese PlayStation website, the PlayStation store revamp will occur on April 15th 2008, which is a Tuesday. Firmware 2.30 will be released allowing access to the new store. The firmware update will be released in the Evening (Japanese time). There has been no announcement of when the new store will be available in North America or Europe other than in mid-April. It is likely that the new firmware will be available in Europe and US on Tuesday too.

    I'm confused. Is it 15th or 25th?
    And is this for Japan only?

    EDIT: I looked at the source and it must be the 15th.
    1. 15th is a Tuesday, 25th isn't.
    2. It says 15th in the translation, the quote above must've been a typo.

    Note that one of the updates to the store is 'New download categories added'

      According to this report by Kotaku and this report by CVG, they have this updated listed for the 15th April (for the Japanese market though the others are not fully decided. US might follow it though according to CVG the Uk is still TBC.) The PSN Store Upgrade will come with it.

    This is confusing me also though the source says that it iwll be happening on the 25th so i will take the sources word. Good to hear that it will be available to other countries to.

    Just to clarify, it IS the 15th. I thought it would happen on the 17th, but seems like they've pushed it forward by two days .. great... unless your me who wont benefit it till friday anyway >_<

      Not really, since the beta doesn't actually go online until the 21st. You can download the game as soon as April 17th but you won't be able to play it online until the 21st.
