The Past, Present, and Future of Sega’s Best Franchises

Mishtram | April 13, 2007 | News | SEGA GENESIS SEGA SATURN
An article about Sega and many of it's franchises, included a short speech on the lost quality and many good developers which Sega has had to face with the creation of it's past few games.
It’s no secret that I’m a Sega fan or more specifically, an old-school Sega fan. Sega has been blessed with a great history and a legacy of phenomenally innovative games that helped fuel many a console war. However, now that Sega is now software-only and many of its most prolific developers have moved onto other development houses or their own ventures, Sega’s game have not only decreased in quality, but there are many landmark franchises that have been left dormant.

I do miss the old sega nintendo days a bit, Nostalgia mostly since I grew up during the old console war.

Sonic is actually decreasing in quality after each game that is released. Why does Sonic always have to come back with his friends?

I like some of the old Sega games, but some of the new ones are alright. Sega is amazing. =)

Personally, I would love to see some of the old Sega games coming back to life. The Shining Force games on the older consoles were among my favourites and I'd like to see some proper follow-ups to them. Unfortunately, Sega seem content to release mediocre action-RPGs under the Shining banner, instead of the strategic, character-based games that were released on the Mega Drive/Genesis and Saturn.

Ah well, let's continue to look forward instead, though I hope they don't balls the new NiGHTS game up!
