So for the third month in a row the PS3 has outsold the Xbox360, although the Wii has overshot the combined sales of the two consoles together, according to Michael Pachter.
Patcher predicted that the Wii will have sold up to 700,000 consoles during the five-week retail period in March. He also went on to say that he believes the supply of Wii and DS improved over the month, therefore making his forecasting for unit sales quite difficult.

PlayStation 3 outsold Xbox 360 for the third month in a row, but the Nintendo Wii overshot the combined sales of its rivals, according to Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter.

Ahead of March's NPD Group sales data, due to release this Thursday, Pachter forecast PS3 sales of 365,000 units, edging out sales of 310,000 for Xbox 360.

In a Monday investor note, Pachter predicted that Nintendo will come out on top for yet another month, with Wii sales of 700,000 during March's five-week retail period.

These are a guy's predictions, no?

The title needs to be altered, omfg. misleading.

It's according to Michael Pachter, as the description clearly states.

        You mean this guy?

Regardless, it's not a fact... and the simple fact that you guys are allowing the title to stick when numerous ones involving positive things regarding the X360 have been edited with "rumor" or "[insert person here] says" proves you guys are nothing but tools.

It's not really surprising that the Wii outsells the PS3 and XBox 360, since it's cheaper. No wonder Wii's aren't so easy to find.

Don't forget, Super Smash Bros Brawl came out in March. Considering it sold 1.4 million in it's first week in North America (and Patcher estimates that it sold 2 million for the month), it definitely sold some systems. My guess is that Nintendo also sent more units here to take advantage of that demand, like they did in Japan when Brawl came out.

It probably sold abnormally high numbers in March due to Brawl.

Wow i guess thats good for Sony, but still they're behind both in sales.

Wii did good, congrats. Should have known Brawl would help it out.

Nice to see the PS3 finally picking up. If this turns out to be a fact, Sony'll have 3 months under its belt. Cool. No signs of the Wii momentum dying either- awesome. No surprise there. Heh...

Nice, sony is picking up speed. It's good to see, I know a few people who have one and they love it.

I see a trend in the works. A trend that will only pick up steam as GTA IV and especially MGS4 hit the market.

I guess the demand for blu-ray players is going up.

      Synergized Apr 16, 08
Agreed. Parents might even buy their kids a PS3 and then also use it as a Blu-ray player since HD DVD is dead. Even so, the console war doesn't seem to be changing much. Wii owns and 360 and PS3 compete for second place. In the long run, the PS3 will probably beat the 360 since the 360 is older and some games might boost sales for the PS3.

Yea, I mean nobody could actually want that thing for games.

Don't let the name "Playstation" fool you. The PS3 is a "multi-media entertainment system," not a "game console" as Sony claims. Games are simply a plus.

      Deadman Rules Apr 16, 08
Then why do people always compare it to other gaming consoles? Why all the fighting?

      I just don't get it.

        Slumpy monkey Apr 16, 08
Because they realize that other consoles have things better than them and so sub-consciously need to justify their purchase, by trying to degrade the other things they didn't choose at any chance they can get it.

Its the same for everything, A better example is religion.

          Final Blade Apr 16, 08
Stop being an idiot. They don't need to justify their purchase, they just know their console has alot more in it than the others, so they gloat about it. Same thing as 360 fanboys gloating about their huge library.

The PS3 is an entertainment system, but primarily a Video game console. Thats why they choose to compare it.

Look im not taking a hit at anybody. But it's true. Look at all these stupid extremists "oh your not the true religion. your our enemy. Our god is better than your's etc"

          Ameer Apr 17, 08
I understand that, but to blanket the entirely of religion instead of just isolating religious extremists is a bit unfair. Your clarification has made your comment make more sense.

But Finalblade, the 360 library is great, why not gloat? I don't care if PS3 people gloat about their blu-ray. Eventually I will have both and I can gloat to nintendo fanboys about how many cool games and movies I can play.

      Final Blade Apr 22, 08
I was responding to Slumpy who thinks he cool and know what the *bleep* he's talking about, clearly not the case. There's nothing wrong with the big library, im just stating a point we know both consoles are awesome, we don't need to state anything to justify our purchase, its obviously better than the Wii thats for sure.

It's not a lie. All it was, was some guys predictions. However it got past without a moderator changing the name. *cough* gutib*cough*.

This also proves Cdemons point in the first post.

          It does prove his point.

Deadman thought the article was fact, when it wasn't. SO yes the articles title WAS misleading.

What has he made that isn't obvious? Nothing, and him calling us tools is one big LOL

    Deadman Rules Apr 22, 08
slumpy, it's due to the fact that it's stated as a fact, and in no way indicates that the PS3 is predicted to outsell. Either way it doesn't matter since it actually didn't outsell and it makes this whole article one big LOL.

      Slumpy monkey Apr 27, 08
Exactly looks at the title. It says PS3 out sells 360. But it doesn't even state that its a prediction. If this was "360 outsells ps3 for the whole year" it would have been edited to put "prediction" in it. People like Guticb need to be taken off GG staff.
