Games We Love but Wish We Could Love Playing

As if there isn't enough problems with online already with. It looks like the new Metal Gear Solid is going to require you to get a new account and give your email to yet another web site so you can play. "Lack of standardized online" is apparently the problem, says 1up.
I couldn't agree more.
Most gamers likely feel a great sense of weariness at the prospect of being forced to sign up for yet another email account, web login or profile page just to be able to access some variety of digital content -- but what if that login was necessary in order to play Metal Gear Online?
According to the official Playstation Blog, that's exactly the case for those individuals lucky enough to have scored themselves a preview beta of Metal Gear Online by either pre-ordering Metal Gear Solid 4 or by somehow winning the lottery and successfully getting a beta signup directly from Konami.
Those who do have a key to the Metal Gear Online beta will log on after June 19th to be greeted with a signup not just to Sony's online Playstation Network but also also to Konami's internal "Konami ID" system -- a completely separate online entity not affiliated with your existing Playstation 3 username or identity in any way. Signing up for a Konami ID is mandatory for MGO players as it technically does the job of handing out your game ID, thereby allowing access to the "really unique features" available in Metal Gear 4's online spin-off.

Sony doesn't have a clue who the PSN people are online that have the beta codes. It's not like GameStop asked me for my PSN account name. They don't know anything.
I'm fine with signing up for a Konami ID, especially if that means detailed stat tracking on more things than simply PSN. But this article makes it sound like you're going to need to sign up for a brand new PSN id too, which is clearly not the case.
better safe then sorry
I'm happy that in Eu/Aus we just go to the store and dl it and that's it.
I'm trying to make one at the moment, but their site is going so slow.
