North American fans of the Soul Calibur series will see the next installment on their shores July 29. According to publisher Ubisoft, Europe will see the game "summertime."

Soul Calibur IV is in development for PS3 and 360. It will feature a fancy Critical Finisher system where you can instantly kill an opponent if you manage to empty their Soul Gauge two times in a row; this fills up when attacking but decreases when defending.

I thought it would have been in the Fall, good news. ^^ Hope they improve Maxi (and not nerf him).

      Heh...

That's perfect. Attacking increases the gauge, while defending decreases it.

Pitbull-type players are going to rape all you turtlers out there.

That means characters like Taki and Maxi get the most benefit. Since they're often always on the offensive, and people tend to guard considerably before they can find a hole in their strings. ^^

      Especially Maxi.
