Nintendo May Exceed Own Sales, Profits Expectations

Gary15 | April 13, 2007 | News | Wii DS Company
Reuters have reported that nintendo have increased their sales and profit expectations for the 06/07 business year, based on the high Demand for the DS.
There are plenty of reasons to be complaining about the lack of substantial new games on Wii, but the Nintendo DS keeps on truckin', and you won't see Nintendo bitching; Reuters reports the company just raised sales expectations and profit forecasts for the 06/07 business year, based on increasing demand for Nintendo DS hardware and games.
Sales reportedly totaled out at 966 billion yen ($8.1 billion) for the year ending March 31, 2007, up from its previous prediction of 900 billion yen. The company did not release specific figures for their expected profit increase, but we'll know more when the company announces their annual earnings on April 26.

Maybe we'll see start seeing some new announcements then, too.

I always tend to hold my excitement down when I hear these things because they typically lead to shortages. In the case of the DS it shouldn't be much of a problem but you never know.

Viva la DS! I'm guessing it's because of the upcoming RPGs such as those of the Pokemon and Dragon Quest series.

Yeah, I definitely think all of their DS RPGs, and especially Pokemon and Dragon Quest like you said, are really good for Nintendo. I think the Wii is adding to that as well though. =)

I keep being amazed that the DS is still on the rise. People just keep buying. I'm probably still not going to buy one, but it's fun when a company that's recently taken up hours of my freetime is doing well.

To be honest, I'm in no way surprised. I've yet to see a wii on the shelves. They sell like insanity.

That is quite cool. I'm glad Nintendo is doing so well, and is it any wonder with so many great RPG's on the way? The future looks bright for the DS. Very bright indeed.

For sure, the DS had a bit of a rocky start but there are just so many good games for it now and so many more on the game.

Ah, it is nice to see Nintendo succeeding again. I really like the Wii. Nintendo took a risk, it seemed rocky, but it is working quite well.

1 of the reasons may be because of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. When it hits America it will be chaos. But the Wii is popular too. Especially since its the most virtual gaming like console out there.

The good thing for nintendo is that they have been amking money on each Wii unit sold from the start, which obviously helps with profits. Usually the consoles themselves are sold at a loss to start with and the money is made via games sales.

I'm kinda surprised eveytime a pokemon game is successful yet again. The hype for pokemon games died for me ages ago. It's hard to believe that it's still such a major thing.
