Petition created against PS3 version of Orange Box

Guticb | April 19, 2008 | News | PC Playstation 3
Mike Seedon has written a petition against EA's horrible service for the Playstation 3 version of The Orange Box. It contains many issues that the Xbox 360 and PC versions of the game do not have. Among the complaints are:

-EA support lacking PS3 knowledge
-Glitches in the game
-The 128MB patch being useless, creating only more problems
-No PS3 Orange Box forum on EA forums
-Sudden Death randomly starting
-Constant server crashes
-Many issues the 360 and PC versions lack

And much more. This game has been plagued with issues since its release, issues that the Xbox 360 version of the game doesn't have. EA has only released one patch, and all that patch has done is create more issues with the game. The Playstation 3 version of the game was even delayed at one point to resolve these issues, but the delay did nothing.
Enough.
Enough with the unacceptable behavior of yours towards your customers.

It is time we speak up.
We are angry customers who keep asking for support.
We are angry customers waiting for support.
Actually, we are angry customers who have waited more than enough.

We want actions to the faulty product you have released.

You do not seem to care at all, but let me tell you personal here.
Money doesn't fall like rain.
I work day and night to earn that money.
Occasionally, I spend that earned money on entertaining products in order to try relaxing from work and daily stress.
A minimum of respect, please.

This is so unfortunate. There's absolutely zero reason this game should be so problematic on the PS3. Half-Life isn't even pushing the technology envelope anymore, it's really unacceptable.

Now I don't own it on the PS3, there's no way I would, but I feel bad for the people that do because being an owner of the entire Half-Life saga on the PC it sucks knowing that some people aren't getting the chance to experience these amazing games the way they were intended.

Dang, wouldn't you know it, I just got it today, and I tried several times to DL the patch, thinking it would be GOOD. I have the patch, and now it is possibly BAD? That sucks >_>

They really need to get the game fixed....I have only played portal thus far (loads of fun BTW).....I hope Half Life isn't as bad as these complaints suggest >_>

Besides, isn't it Valve's problem? They made the game (games, actually), yes? Or is it on EA's head as publisher?

BTW: Wouldn't boycotting the game lead EA to write off the game, potentially? Just ignore it, rather than bother fixing the game for those that do buy it?

Valve didn't make the PS3 port in this case though, it was passed onto EA.

Valve said something along the lines of "The PS3 is not worth our hard effort, and should not be supported" or something along those parameters. Valve will never make a PS3 game, you can count on it.

Yeah but by the time Valve has another new game ready to be released the PS4 will be out so no worries.

Truly unfortunate. I was going to pick this game up cause i've heard so much good things about Portal and HL2, but with these problems, it turned me away.

ffs EA, if Uncharted and UT3 can make PS3 games awesome without problems, why the hell can't you make a good PS3 game, your just as bad as Valve.

That is really slack on EA Games' part. If you are going to make a game, make it properly FFS! There is absolutely no reason that they couldnt have used the PS3 technology to the best of their ability.

Ea didn't make the game, Valve did. As stated before valve had EA port the game to the PS3 because they dont like the PS3 and dont like people to support it.

Thats what he meant slumpy, they ported the game, so its their fault that the game sucks. If Valve actually took the time to port it, it could have been better. But that goes for both really.

@bandito, no the PS3 is no longer difficult to develop for. Cause if thats the case than games like DMC4, Burnout Paradise and GTA4 won't be looking as great and good as they do. Its juts an excuse for bad work. Your a developer for christ sake, not a fanboy, learn the technology or get out of the gaming business.

no but he said it as if EA made the game, And how they could utilize the ps3. But its multi-plat so.

Unless you did mean that, im sorry.

might have somethign to do with the fact that the ps3 is more difficult to delevope software for than the 360, and the bugs might be more difficult to fix or something. who knows.

That probably could be a valid reason though you would have though they would have been able to get past that even for the ex-gen games. They have managed to get other EA titles working to a high standard on the PS3 so why they couldnt get this I dont really know.
